Position Type: Secretarial/Clerical/Level II - High School Secretary-Scheduling OfficeDate Posted: 12/5/2024Location: Stevenson High School Date Available: 01/02/2025Closing Date: 12/12/2024POSTION DESCRIPTION: The person in this position has the responsibility for all correspondence related to the scheduling of teachers and students. All work associated with scheduling is done on MiSTAR. This person has the responsibility of entering data into the computer system related to student requests and the master schedule. Typing of the building master schedule and other related materials are essential tasks of this position. This secretary is also responsible for the duties associated with substitute teachers and Frontline, maintenance of the Program of Study, report cards, lockers, keys, transportation issues, and mail. Other duties may be assigned as deemed necessary by the administrator. DISTRICT OVERVIEW: Livonia Public Schools employs approximately 1,900 staff members, serving approximately 13,300 students pre-K - post secondary. There are 15 elementary schools, 3 middle schools, 3 high schools, 1 career technical center, 1 early childhood center, and 1 vocational and transition center in the school district. The annual budget for Livonia Public Schools is $175 million, with a state funding of $9,608 per pupil. SKILLS REQUIRED: The following is a list of minimum qualifications for this position, any one of which may be waived by the Administration in exercising its prerogative to determine qualifications:
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to multi-task efficiently and accept responsibility are essential in this position
  • Strong communication skills. It is necessary to be able to interact diplomatically in person, electronically (email), and by telephone with administrators, teachers, parents, and students throughout the district.

  • Computer skills using Microsoft Office Suite, Publisher, and Google Docs

  • CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This is a Level II position - twelve months, eight hours per day. Specific details involved in the position will be discussed with the administrator during the interview and at the time of hiring for the position. Salary and benefits will be in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Agreement between the Livonia Public Schools School District and the Livonia Secretarial Association, Michigan Education Association.
