About the Role:
Job Summary
Responsible for the technical personnel management in the department. Maintains quality assurance standards and fiscal control. This position will care for patients in the neonate, infant, child, adolescent, adult and geriatric age groups. Employee performs clinical duties in accordance with population specific guidelines and adheres to National Patient Safety Goals as outlined in policy and procedures.
Braselton incumbent will be required to perform the job duties of a Medical Technologist as outline in job description 61106 as staffing circumstances dictates to maintain Quest for Excellence Standards.
Minimum Job Qualifications
* Licensure or other certifications: ASCP, NCA, or AMT.
* Educational Requirements: Technologist should have Medical Technology training through an accredited school and successful completion of examination approved from one the following agencies (ASCP, NCA, AAB and HEW) or Bachelors Degree from an accredited institution.
* Minimum Experience: Three (3) years of lab experience.

* Technical expertise in Medical Technology.
Essential Tasks and Responsibilities
* Responsible for organization and overall management of section to ensure quality patient care. Oversees staff training. Performs personnel counseling and monitors performance through performance reviews. Assists in hiring, termination and other personnel management duties. Supervises completion of work according to department policy and established time frame with less than three discrepancies per year as documented by variance report. Completes all reports according to established time frame: success, CAP W.L.V., work schedules, etc.
* Prioritizes work, and handles problems and complaints for area. Investigates complaints and concerns that might affect staff. Communicates with laboratory managers or other person responsible about problems and concerns in a timely and appropriate manner. Prioritizes work by defined lab criteria in a timely manner.
* Responsible for maintaining records according to rules and regulations of CAP, GDHR, and DNV to maintain Laboratory Accreditation. Maintains records and documentation as specified by Chief Technologist and Laboratory Manager. Consults with Laboratory Manager, pathologist or Chief Technologist on questionable lab results with no more than three documented variances per year. Reviews daily Quality Control.
* Maintains commitment to continued professional growth and development. Presents or assists with one education program per year. Attends all in-services
Meets departmental goals which are developed to assist the Medical Center in achieving established institutional goals.
* Other duties as assigned. Maintains working knowledge of the different areas of the section to assist as needed. Serves as a source of knowledge. Performs analysis according to established criteria for quality assurance. Provides at least one documented suggestion for quality improvement in the laboratory.
