How you make a difference:

The Assistant Security Director is a key member of the security team who works closely with the Director of Security/Operations to oversee the safety and security operations of the facility. This role is responsible for managing the day-to-day responsibilities of the security team, ensuring that all security procedures are followed and all incidents are properly addressed. In the absence of the Director of Security/Operations, the Assistant Security Director serves as the interim leader, providing guidance and support to the security team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • The Assistant Director of Security is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and activities of a secure residential treatment facility, including the safety, security, and sanitation of the buildings, grounds, and perimeter areas.
  • This role supervises and directs staff members assigned to ensure compliance with company and facility rules and regulations.
  • The Assistant Director of Security reviews daily incident reports and works with Security Shift Supervisors/Captains to address any issues related to quality or compliance.
  • This position ensures proper management of patient property and mail protocols, and reviews all paperwork generated through the Security Department for completeness and accuracy.
  • The Assistant Director of Security conducts regular inspections of physical structures, locking systems, CCTV systems, and alarm systems, and facilitates or assists in all emergency preparation and response exercises.
Qualifications & Requirements:

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • College Degree in Criminal Justice or Business Administration preferred.

Experience

  • Five (5) years of experience working in high security detention operations.
  • Two (2) years of experience in management/supervisor settings as a sworn law enforcement officer, correctional facility, or secure treatment facility.

Licenses/Certifications

  • Must be able to pass and maintain clearance for an SLED Security License.
