Division:Eskenazi Health Sub-Division: Hospital Req ID: 21570 Schedule: Full Time Shift: Days Eskenazi Health serves as the public hospital division of the Health & Hospital Corporation of Marion County. Physicians provide a comprehensive range of primary and specialty care services at the 327-bed hospital and outpatient facilities both on and off of the Eskenazi Health downtown campus as well as at 10 Eskenazi Health Center sites located throughout Indianapolis. FLSA Status Non-Exempt Job Role Summary The Security Dispatcher receives incoming calls and messages regarding security or related issues, and promptly relays information to appropriate security staff members. Essential Functions and Responsibilities • Receives incoming calls and messages regarding security or related issues • Promptly relays information to appropriate security staff members • Monitors various surveillance devices and reports malfunctions to Security I.T. • Answers telephones/radios, relays messages to staff • Communicates with staff, visitors, and patients via an intercom system with professionalism and tact • Maintains appropriate logs/records of all incoming/outgoing radio traffic, telephone calls, all incidents by case number, and locations of security staff • Completes written reports regarding security transactions/activities and safety conditions • Communicates with Indiana University Police and City Police Department to request assistance as necessary • Reports unusual conditions or malfunctions to appropriate supervisory personnel • Communicates with floor officers to give direction and information • Constantly observes and remains alert in preparation for calls about security problems • Maintains age specific and job specific competencies as described according to department/area/unit specific competencies Job Requirements • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) • Six months of dispatcher or call center experience strongly preferred • New hires after June 1, 2021 must complete the Eskenazi Health Communication Training Officer (CTO) Program within 122 days of hire date. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities • Knowledge of hospital layout and environment • Ability to use age appropriate communication skills • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing • Ability to follow written and/or verbal instructions • Ability to perform routine surveillance with considerable standing and walking • Ability to learn hospital policies/procedures, security policies/procedures and understand monitoring devices • Ability to use age appropriate cognitive abilities, skills, techniques and communications as detailed in the department/area/unit job specific/age specific competencies Accredited by The Joint Commission and named one of the nation's 150 best places to work by Becker's Hospital Review for four consecutive years and Forbes list of best places to work for women, and Forbes list of America's best midsize employers' Eskenazi Health's programs have received national recognition while also offering new health care opportunities to the local community.
