At a Glance! The Security Guard 2 will join a dedicated team responsible for maintaining the safety and security of campus buildings, grounds, and individuals. This role also involves interaction with various campus groups and external agencies, further supporting LCC's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.Who you are: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual with strong knowledge of security protocols. The ideal candidate should demonstrate excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and be proficient in emergency response, conflict resolution, and supervisory tasks. A background in law enforcement, fire fighting/EMS, or similar fields, combined with the ability to work effectively under pressure and maintain a safe environment, is essential.This position is categorized as a Security Guard 2, under State of Washington Class Specification. The Security Guard 2 position is 40 hours per week. The typical schedule is 3:30 pm- 12:00 am and will receive a shift premium of $2.50 per hour. While the primary schedule for this position is evening, the successful candidate must be able to work all shifts. In person work is required. This position reports to the Director of Safety.Check us out on Facebook and Instagram!* Patrols building and grounds by foot and/or vehicle. Uses two-way radio; promotes safe environment, enforces rules and policies of facility and grounds, enforces rules of behavior, secures unattended areas.* Controls access to buildings; opens buildings and turns on lights; turns off unnecessary lights; locks and unlocks public access doors; shuts off elevator and locks areas at the end of the day.* Leads and trains two or more Security Specialist I; monitors shift activities; recommends personnel actions to Safety/Security Manager, briefs relief Security Specialist(s)* Inspects for fire and safety hazards, makes corrections if possible and reports needed repairs or actions to Campus Services or Environmental Safety* Responds to life and death emergencies; provides emergency assistance and first aid as necessary* Monitors people and vehicles on campus; makes ID checks; controls spectators at special events and enforces regulations* Enforces security rules and policies as well as rules of behavior; logs incidents and records into report writing system* Patrols and inspects buildings and grounds to detect and prevent fire, theft, illegal entry and property damage. Examines gates, doors and windows to ensure security; conducts quarterly light audits* Monitors parking lots to prevent vandalism or theft; responds to situations of stolen property, accidents, parking issues and other disturbances or situations. Issues parking citations on campus; reports illegal activity and other incidents to law enforcement as necessary; secures areas until authorities arrive and provides assistance to those authorities as needed.* Receives lost property found on campus; receives complaints, obtains written statements and conducts preliminary investigations; intervenes in person and property risk incidents to diffuse situation* Checks boilers, freezers and other equipment for safety and proper operations; report damaged or deficient equipment, checks classified equipment* Responds to fire alarms and other threat conditions such as campus intruders and bomb threats. Resets fire and trouble alarms and assists in fighting fires as necessary; facilitates and assists in the evacuation of buildings* Directs visitors and others to parking areas and offices; Provides information and assistance to individuals as necessary; escorts visitors, staff, students and guests to and from buildings, responds to public inquires and superiors* Checks in on other personnel working alone on the grounds; assists staff and others with personal safety concerns* Enforces rules of behavior on campus and in buildings; reports disturbances or suspicious circumstances; contacts local law enforcement as needed; expels loiterers; monitors radio traffic within campus* Completes daily shift logs, reports and necessary forms* Other duties as assignedThis description is not intended and should not be construed to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, skills, effort, work conditions, and benefits associated with the job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Minimum Qualifications:* High school diploma or GED.* One year of experience as a Security Guard 1, OR Two years of experience in areas of work such as: security guard, correctional officer or store investigations, or, police officer, police reserve officer, military police, or other law enforcement or first responder work; OR A certificate of completion in a basic law enforcement training program approved by the Washington Criminal Justice Training Commission; or, a certificate of completion in a police or reserve police academy or military training program.* Demonstrated ability to work as a team and independently.* Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to assisting campus visitors, ensuring satisfaction and positive outcomes.* A valid driver's license.Preferred Qualifications:* Associate's degree or higher.* Experience in a supervisory role within security, law enforcement, fire fighting/EMS, or other first responder field.* Certification in CPR, first aid, and AED.* Experience in a coaching or training role.The minimum qualifications may seem specific and limiting, but we do consider candidates with relatable education, experience, and skills.
