We are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive environment and strongly encourage you to apply.The North Carolina Justice Academy (with campuses in Edneyville and Salemburg) provides basic, intermediate, and advanced training for law enforcement officers on topics including: anti-terrorism, community oriented policing, criminal investigation, traffic crash investigation, firearms, self-defense, and management and supervision. Additionally, the Academy provides basic, intermediate, and advanced training for Detention Officers and Telecommunicators on behalf of the North Carolina Sheriffs' Education and Training Standards Commission.This position is located at the North Carolina Justice Academy's East Campus in Salemburg and is assigned to the facility operations section. This involves protective, security, and public contact work at a State facility.Provide Security to the NCJA Campus, Guests, and Staff.* Monitor assigned areas to identify potential violations of laws and regulations.* Patrol the property to protect against fire, damage, and theft.* Conduct interior and exterior patrols of the facilities, observing people's activities and utilizing electronic security and surveillance systems.* Report unusual, suspicious, or hazardous activities or situations.* Ensure that all buildings are secured after hours.Maintain Safety on Facility Grounds* Enforce rules of conduct, monitor access to areas, and control traffic.* Perform routine safety inspections of emergency action systems, fire extinguishers, defibrillators, fire alarms, and academy facilities as assigned.* Execute the procedures to follow in an emergency when necessary.Other Duties* Serve as an after-hours resource for the academy's students and guests by answering questions and assisting with dormitory needs, including front desk check-in.Note to Current State Employees:The salary grade for this position is NC01. Based on these factors, a pay increase MAY or MAY NOT result.THE STARTING SALARY FOR A NEW HIRE TO THIS POSITION IS LIMITED TO THE RECRUITMENT RANGE OF $35,000 to $39,140.
