What you will do
As a critical part of the team, the Commercial Installer works onsite with our commercial customers to set up and program their integrated fire and security systems. The Commercial Installer also dismantles and reconstructs equipment, when necessary, in both new construction and existing buildings.
This skilled position involves installing wiring, programming, troubleshooting, configuring, commissioning, and servicing Fire Alarm Systems, Access Control, and CCTV Systems as well as other related building system products at customer sites including panel repair/reprogramming, device replacement/repair, resolving low voltage circuit troubles and system testing. The position involves the installation and programming of fire alarm, security, and access control system panels, but will primarily focus on fire alarm systems.
Organize and effectively utilize technical resources, information, material, and support to ensure efficient execution of all assigned tasks.
May manage installation teams including sub-contractors on larger projects. Coach and mentor less experienced installers. Travel required, using the provided company vehicle and equipment if/as needed.
How you will do it
Perform installation/programming on integrated security and fire alarm systems
Capable of installing cabling, field equipment & control equipment enclosures in customer locations according to the national electric code, company and customer guidelines.
Respond to customer service calls in a timely and efficient manner, troubleshoot, and repair as needed.
May be required to participate in after-hours service program as needed if demand requires.
Communicate with central dispatch on current installation status and receive updates on outstanding customer issues.
Contact customers prior to the date of scheduled installation to verify the schedule.
Test's operation of systems to the signal-receiving center to properly establish service.
Coordinates installations with AHJ/police/fire departments and handles necessary records of completion
Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, software/systems programs, schematics, and operational/product manuals.
Supervise and inspect the installation of equipment to meet customer and contract specifications
Complete necessary certification courses on internal and external products used.
Complete and submit all required task-related, activity, productivity, and other documentation promptly.
Complete daily job updates and safety tasks as required.
Can use electronic test equipment to troubleshoot complicated problems during installation.
Readjust equipment, repair or replace inoperative equipment and test for operation
Knowledge of computer programs including word processing, spreadsheets and databases; CCTV and access control systems; media storage.
Ability to plan, organize and prioritize work paying close attention to details.
Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, while establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships.
Ability to analyze information.
Can work unsupervised to complete installation jobs and is self-motivated to complete jobs.
Capable of using hand and power tools to properly mount and secure equipment
Feed cables through access holes, roof spaces, and cavity walls to reach fixture outlets; then position and terminate cables, wires and strapping
Drill holes for wiring in wall studs, joists, ceilings, and floors.
Conduct End-user training.
Ability to isolate trouble to a customer network, where applicable
What we look for Required
At least 5 years of documented experience in low voltage electrical systems, including Fire/Life Safety Systems. (Notifier, Honeywell, Simens, EST-Edwards/Kiddie)
Understanding of the function and design of Fire Alarm Systems.
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Experience in reading and interpreting blueprints, submittals, and operational/product manuals
Experience with hand tools test equipment, multi-meter usage, digital analyzer and commissioning devices
Capable of performing physical labor to include carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 50-70 lbs.
Able to work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions such as climbing ladders, scaffolding and high lift equipment up to 40 feet, working within ducts, crawl spaces, above ceilings, etc.
Able to work flexible hours including weekends to meet customer requirements
Overnight travel and work may be required
Demonstrate a high level of customer service
Ability to lead & work well with team members
Ability to adhere to, implement, and always follow safety guidelines and procedures
Strong organizational skills, a positive attitude, and an ability to learn quickly
Possess a valid driver's license and driving record that meets company requirements
Able to pass a pre-employment background and drug test
Able to obtain and retain any licenses that are required by National, State, and Local codes
Advanced understanding of Network concepts and architectures.
Preferred
Two-year associate degree in Electronics; Network; Computer Science or a related field
NICET level II, Access Control certifications, CCTV certifications, and experience bending conduit.
Additional experience a plus: MCSE, CCNA, Surveillance Systems, Intrusion Detection Systems, Perimeter Intrusion Detection Systems and Security Gate Operators.
