The Georgia Department of Defense is seeking an experienced military security forces professional to serve as the Security and Investigations Supervisor for the 165th Airlift Wing (AW) Security Forces Squadron (SFS) in Garden City.
The Security and Investigations Supervisor (SIS) investigates, manages, logs and maintains files of all incidents, accidents and offenses at the 165th AW, the Air Dominance Center and two geographically separated units in the coastal Georgia area. Initiates and logs all special information files when the Office of Personnel Management discovers discrepancy issues with employee security clearance investigations. The SIS also serves as the State Contracting Office Representative for the management of the Security Forces Cooperative Agreement for the Wing, which includes administrative and budgetary responsibilities.
Other significant duties of the SIS position include:
* Investigations Supervisor. Responsible for the training of the unit investigations team for the 165th Security Forces Squadron. Responsible for investigating crimes against the State of Georgia code including but not limited to the Georgia Code of Military Justice and Georgia criminal codes, completing reports, and supplying
commanders or prosecutors with final investigative findings. Process crime scenes. Request additional police assistance. Responsible for collecting and protecting evidence including chain of custody, interviewing witnesses, and testifying in court. Collect and use forensic evidence to solve crimes. Takes fingerprints at crime
scene. Send specimens to laboratory to obtain DNA. Run fingerprints through database to obtain matches. Conduct comprehensive interviews of informants, witnesses, complainants, suspects, or others as needed and maintaining detailed records of all interactions formal and informal. Collect evidence to support a court case against a suspect. File paperwork. Follow up on leads. Prepare investigative reports. Attend autopsies and make notes. Prepare sketches and diagrams. Explain to the jury the significance of evidence as it relates to proof. Maintain an in-depth knowledge of federal and state statutes and court cases related to work performed
and agency rules and regulations. Obtain search warrants. Perform surveillance and monitor suspects. Analyze laboratory findings. Exchange information and coordinate activities with other departments. Record physical information about suspects.
* Acting as the Base Security Officer and Central Controller for the DBIDS system, designating individual roles for the day-to-day use of the system and serving as the installation subject matter expert;
* DataMaxx Administrator (NCIC) Terminal Agency Coordinator. Agency employee designated by the agency head to be responsible for ensuring compliance with state and federal policies, regulations and laws established by the GBI, the FBI's Criminal Justice Information Service (CJIS) Division and National Law Enforcement Telecommunication System (NLETS). Responsibilities include adherence to GBI/FBI CJIS validation program procedures for specified GBI/FBI CJIS records.
* Air Force Justice Information System (AFJIS) Functional System Administrator acts as the local grantor of roles and levels of access for personnel requiring AFJIS access. Deletes AFJIS accounts within 48 hours of Permanent Change of Station (PCS), retirement or separation.
* NCIC Criminal Background History Investigator. Agency employee whose primary job includes accessing the CJIS network and deciphers the information to ensure that all personnel that request access to the installation are vetted according to standards and regulations.
The position requires the ability to write thorough investigation reports, interview reports, and detailed summary reports. The selected candidate must be sound in fitness, perception, listening and judgement, presenting an overall sound image to suspects, fellow employees and outside contacts. Consulting with other agencies or authorities as well as deriving solutions through the review of detailed procedures are key components of this position. Other duties will include updating or creating effective local guidelines and procedures, as well as develop operating procedures and performance standards.

* Civilian: High School Graduate and the 400-hour Veterans Affairs Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (VALETC) POST Certification and one of the following in-residences courses: U.S. Army Military Police Investigations School, Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) Basic Special Investigator Course, and the Security Forces Criminal Investigations Course.
* Military: Any of the following approved Federal Law Enforcement Training Academy (FLETA) LE Courses: SF Tech School, US. Marine Corps Basic Police Officer Course and United States Army Military Police School and one of the following in-residence courses: U.S. Army Military Police Investigations School, Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) Basic Special Investigator Course, and the Security Forces Criminal Investigations Course
* Required Computer Software: Microsoft Office, Law Enforcement Enterprise Portal (LEEP), DBIDS, ASFJIS, Data Maxx (NCIC), E-Guardian.
Preference will be given to those applicants who, in addition to meeting the entry level qualifications, have current and significant professional level experience in any combination of the following:
1. Knowledge of Air Force/Air Guard specific regulations pertaining to Security Forces.
2. Georgia POST Certification.
3. Previous supervisory experience in a military or law enforcement organization.
4. Commercial Drug Interdiction, Bomb Incident Investigator, Georgia Gain (Stage 1&2), First Responder Crisis
Negotiation, Gang Investigation, Information Security Orientation, Anti-Terrorism training, Interviewing and

AFJIS Training, DBIDS Training, Emergency Response training, Emergency Management.
