Job DescriptionAtlantic Health System is seeking a Security Officer I Per Diem for the Security Department at Hackettstown Medical Center - Days & Shift Hours may vary.ESSENTIAL FUNCTION/RESPONSIBILITIES:•The selected candidate must be able to work, first, second and third shifts, weekends, and Holidays and over time as required.•Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs. and stand for at least 4 hours at a time.•The candidate must be able to attend mandatory training sessions.•Proficiency with computers is required.•Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work with the department's computer system are essential.•The selected candidate must be able to engage with patients, visitors, and staff.•This position includes safety tours of the facility and grounds, responding to emergencies, conducting investigations, and gathering information, completing electronic reports, de-escalating violent or threatening individuals.•The candidate will be exposed to Bio-Hazards such as Blood, Vomit, Saliva, and Urine.•The candidate will be required to pass an N95 Fit Test. Be able to wear an N95 or surgical mask for short and extended periods of time.•The candidates will be oriented on one or more shifts during their initial orientation.•Candidates will be required to pass an AHS approved physical control tactics course.QualificationsREQUIREMENT:•Valid Driver's License required with a clean record.•High School Diploma required.•Associate or bachelor's Degree is preferred.•High School Diploma plus Military, Law Enforcement, Fire Service, Emergency Medical Service or Security experience, will be considered in lieu of associate degree.MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:•Prior Law enforcement, Fire Service or EMS, or Behavioral Health experience highly preferred.•Former Military, Reserve Military and Law Enforcement candidates preferred.•Thorough background checks conducted.•Ability to write detailed reports, and strong verbal skills are essential.About UsABOUT US At Atlantic Health System, our promise to our communities is; Anyone who enters one of our facilities, will receive the highest quality care delivered at the right time, at the right place, and at the right cost. Hackettstown Medical Center has been providing care to the community since 1973, primarily serving Warren, Sussex and Morris Counties in New Jersey. Uniformed PSS officers are assigned posts and routinely patrol the facilities and grounds to prevent fire, theft, vandalism and unauthorized entry. During their tours, officers visually examine doors, windows and gates to ensure they remain intact and secure. Each PSS team member is highly trained to maintain an atmosphere that is calming to patients and welcoming to their families while also being able to deescalate situations in which emotions run high. All officers are specially trained in response control tactics and techniques and are called to respond to occurrences of workplace violence and fire safety. The PSS team is trained and leads our first response to significant events such as (Code Lockdown & Active Shooter, Abducted Child, Building Evacuation, Bomb Threats, etc.). The PSS team controls card access privileges at each of the medical centers; officers are trained to confront all unauthorized persons and, when necessary, contact local law enforcement for assistance. Additionally, PSS has an Investigations Office, which conducts follow-up investigations for all significant cases (i.e., Suspicion of Drug Diversion, Allegations of Assault, Domestic Violence, Workplace Violence, etc.); and an Emergency Management Office, which is responsible for the oversight, coordination, and implementation of emergency management standards system-wide to facilitate a safe environment.
