**Security Officer**

**Responsibilities**

The Security Officer is expected to provide a reasonable safe and secure environment for all who enter Dignity Health properties and to assure the physical security of buildings and grounds. It is expected that the security officer will demonstrate behavior consistent with Dignity Health core value and humankindness. The security officer shall support Dignity Health's strategic plan and the goals and direction of the quality improvement/process improvement activities

**Qualifications**

Required:

* Six (6) months experience as security officer in a hospital or healthcare setting, prior law enforcement or military service; or one (1) year experience as a security officer.

* High school diploma or equivalent; or three (3) years experience as a security officer

* Current CA driver's license with satisfactory DMV report on file

* Current CA issued security officer license, showing no disciplinary actions

* American Heart Association approved Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of employment.

* Workplace violence training annually

* Must be able to speak English, communicate clearly orally, and in writing; understand and use de-escalation techniques; Ability to comprehend and follow instructions; maintain attention and concentration for necessary periods; synthesize, coordinate, and analyze data, perform simple and repetitive tasks; maintain a work pace appropriate to given work load; perform complex and varied tasks; relate to other people beyond giving and receiving instructions; get along with co-workers and peers; understand the meaning of words and how to use them appropriately and effectively; understand and remember detailed instructions; make independent decisions or exercise judgment based on appropriate information; accept and carry out responsibility for direction, control and planning

Preferred:

* Completion of IAHSS Basic Training for Healthcare Security Officer
