In addition, this position will be eligible for additional benefits consistent with the role. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be determined based on various factors, including but not limited to: scope of role, level of experience, education, accomplishments, internal equity, budget, and subject to Fair Market Value evaluation. The hiring range listed is a good faith determination of potential compensation at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.What you will be doingSecurity Officer Night Shift**For a quick response from our recruitment team, please opt-in for text message (SMS) communications when you apply.Position Summary:We are looking for a compassionate and vigilant Security Officer to join our hospital team, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and staff. In this role, you will be integral in maintaining the hospital's security, with a strong focus on creating a positive patient experience. You will respond swiftly to emergencies, conduct thorough patrols, and assist patients and visitors with information and direction, all while ensuring their safety and comfort throughout their stay.Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as a resource for patients and visitors, providing clear and friendly guidance and support to enhance their hospital experience.
  • Respond promptly and empathetically to urgent and emergency situations, prioritizing the safety and well-being of patients and staff.
  • Conduct regular security patrols throughout the campus, ensuring a safe and secure environment conducive to healing.
  • Investigate, document, and report security incidents with attention to detail, ensuring that patient safety and comfort are maintained.
  • Manage internal and external traffic control to maintain a smooth flow of patients, visitors, and ambulances, reducing stress and confusion.
  • Enforce hospital policies and safety regulations with a focus on minimizing disruption and maintaining a caring atmosphere.
  • Collaborate closely with medical staff to ensure patient needs are met while maintaining a secure environment.
Qualifications:
  • Required: 8 and 16-hour New York State Security Guard Certification and Licensure.
  • Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience in hospital security or a similar setting is preferred, with a focus on patient interaction.
  • Exceptional skills in investigation, reporting, and documentation, with a patient-first approach.
  • Physical ability to traverse the hospital campus quickly to respond to emergencies and conduct security checks.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required; Associate's Degree highly preferred.
  • Certifications: F-89 or T-89 certification highly desirable.
Additional Skills and Competencies:
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a patient-centered mindset.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations, while providing reassurance to patients and their families.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow protocols for patient safety and emergency response.
  • Strong observational and problem-solving skills, ensuring potential issues are addressed before they impact patient care.
  • Team-oriented with a commitment to enhancing the patient experience while maintaining security.
