This full-time role will require availability for all shifts but primarily overnight shift from 6 PM to 6 AM, with additional coverage on weekends and holidays. The schedule follows a rotating pattern, with every other Friday, Saturday, and Sunday off. Apply today to join a great team and receive a robust Totals Reward package!!**Responsibilities:**+ Staff fixed posts to monitor ingress and egress to secured areas, ensuring only authorized individuals access restricted zones.+ Provide customer service to patients, families, visitors, and staff, maintaining a safe and secure environment through effective communication.+ Inspect incoming and outgoing parcels to prevent theft and ensure no unauthorized items enter or leave the premises.+ Respond to and resolve problems, disputes, and unusual circumstances quickly to minimize disruptions and maintain safety.+ Maintain required certifications and licensing, ensuring compliance with all security-related regulations and standards.+ Assist with traffic control and vehicle assists, ensuring smooth operations around the facility and responding to emergencies when needed.+ Transport deceased individuals to the morgue or release bodies from the morgue in accordance with hospital procedures and policies.+ Monitor security, fire, and environmental alarms, responding promptly to alarms and assisting with resolution as necessary.+ Establish a visible security presence by patrolling UPMC hospitals, buildings, grounds, and associated areas to deter criminal activity and document incidents.+ Operate UPMC vehicles in accordance with the Pennsylvania Vehicle Code, ensuring safe transportation during security operations.+ Conduct patient escorts and stand-by details, ensuring patient safety and facilitating the smooth flow of hospital operations.+ Complete all mandatory training programs per departmental guidelines, staying updated on security protocols and procedures.+ Report and document incidents, suspicious activities, and hazards to ensure accurate records and prompt corrective action.Preferred:+ High School diploma or equivalentRequired:+ Must be available for all shifts+ Be able to effectively communicate both orally and in written format+ High level of integrity required for handling sensitive/confidential UPMC information+ Must possess strong interpersonal skills, especially the ability to effectively interact, communicate, and diffuse potential combative situations with persons from all walks of life+ Psychological fitness required to deal with stress and potentially dangerous conflict situations+ Physical fitness requirements to deal with typical physical demands that require full body motion and physical strength and stamina sufficient to respond to crisis interventions and medical emergencies+ Able to deal with stress and potentially dangerous conflict situations.+ All applicants will be subject to a thorough background and criminal record check+ Officers are required to wear a bullet proof vest.+ Employees covered by a collective bargaining agreement should consult the applicable collective bargaining for specific requirements**Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:**Act 235 with Firearms OR Act 235 without Firearms - All officers hired without a valid Act 235 must complete the 235 certification within their first 6 months of hire or placement and have process completed within 9 months of hire. Must meet audio and visual standards outlined in Act 235 at time of hire. Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation certification required within 30 days of hire. Valid Driver's License.
