Job Description:
This position patrols assigned campus areas and enforces college policies to provide a safe environment for students, employees, and visitors.* Performs routine security duties in accordance with established Security Department guidelines.* Regularly patrols assigned areas to ensure Central Piedmont students, employees, and visitors are in a secure environment.* Monitors student behavior to ensure a safe learning environment.* Warns violators of rule infractions.* Enforces college student code of conduct and investigates incidents when necessary.* Assists Campus Security Director with other related duties.* Writes incident reports, conducts interviews involving incidents that occur on campus.* Coordinates with ADOCS to assists with shift needs.* Assists staff, students, and visitors on campus with information or directions to various buildings or campuses.* Opens classrooms.* Performs other duties as assigned.High School Diploma or GED and two (2) years of recent, full-time law enforcement or related experience.Preferred Qualifications:* 3 years of recent full-time law enforcement or security related experience* Experience in a patrol or special events environmentKnowledge, Skills, Abilities and Worker Characteristics:* Knowledge of college policies and procedures* Knowledge of police procedures and techniques* Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skillsWorking Conditions:Light physical effort required involving stooping and bending; individual has limited discretion about walking, standing, etc.; occasional lifting of lightweight objects (up to 25 pounds). Occasional minor discomforts from exposure to less-than-optimal temperatures and air conditions. May involve dealing with slightly unpleasant situations, as with occasional exposure to dust, fumes, outside weather conditions and/or frequent driving of a vehicle.Conditions of Employment:* Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check.* Must maintain a valid driver's license with a good driving record.* Must maintain and stay up-to-date on applicable/required certifications.* CPR and Basic First Aid Certification (if not currently certified, must be obtained within 90 days of employment).
