The Role

The Security Operations Manager serves as the people leader of a team of Security Analysts and Engineers. The Manager reports directly to the Leader of Managed Services and is accountable for ensuring that their team operates effectively, professionally, in a timely manner and in the best interest of NuHarbor, all Managed Services divisions, and our clients. The Security Operations Manager has the authority to instruct, coach and council Security team members.

  • Leads a team of analysts and engineers consistent with NuHarbor corporate values: Protect our house, help clients win, always improve.
  • Builds and encourages self-directed teams, fostering an open, collaborative culture to
  • ensure that team members collaborate and hold one another accountable to on-time and
  • high-quality delivery.
  • Promotes a culture of excellence by maintaining the highest expectations of performance,
  • establishing rigorous quality controls, and preventing repeated errors.
  • Manages team performance and resource allocation to clients using established key
  • performance indicators.
  • Acts as the escalation point for NuHarbor teams and Managed Services clients for
  • performance and resource allocation, proactively and reactively managing service
  • requirements, customer issues, and helping clients win.
  • Assists customers as needed by addressing questions or concerns and acting as a
  • representative of NuHarbor Security.
  • Supports security operations and service delivery teams to reach successful outcomes with daily work and strategic and process improvement initiatives.
  • Manages product quality by reviewing tickets, backlogs, compliance with SLA/SLOs, handling guidelines, runbook adherence, and policy compliance.
  • Assists the sales organization in articulating our value to prospective clients.
  • Collaborates on creative and innovative technical solutions in line with NuHarbor Security's
  • strategic initiatives.
  • Serves as a technical escalation point for 24/7 coverage.
  • Provides direction, leadership and mentoring for team.

Your foundation. The requirements for this role:

  • Bachelor's Degree and eight (8) years' working in directly applicable Cybersecurity or related technical positions.
  • Typical Degrees: Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Data
  • Analytics, Mathematics, or related field(s).
  • In lieu of a degree, two (2) years of experience in a related technology field
  • and relevant industry certifications are required.
  • Three (3) years of experience should be in a leadership and/or management role.
  • Proficient understanding of project management.
  • Demonstrated experience managing, coaching, and mentoring a technical team.
  • Proven experience leading large-scale process improvement and change initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience successfully leading customer-facing teams who work with
  • cybersecurity technology platforms.
  • The ability to make complex subjects understandable to various audiences ranging from
  • cyber practitioners to business executives.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize work across several projects and balance workload.
  • Experience with data visualization tools and strong analytical skills.
  • Proven ability to coach and explain security operations and cybersecurity to clients and
  • teams.
  • Must be a citizen of the United States.
  • Client facing professionalism with exemplary written and verbal communication skills

Additional capabilities that will differentiate you for this role:

  • Intimate knowledge of Splunk Enterprise, Splunk Cloud, and Splunk Enterprise Security.
  • Experience with security event triaging and threat hunting executed through both a SIEM
  • and EDR toolset.
  • Experience with multiple operating systems (Linux, MacOS, Windows), their command lines, processes, and file systems.
  • Expertise in the cybersecurity space, especially security monitoring (MSSPs, MSPs).
  • Hold at least one relevant industry certification (GCFA, GCIH, CEH, CISM, CISSP, etc.).
  • Demonstrated client facing professionalism with exemplary written and verbal
  • communication skills.
  • Proactive and performs well in all aspects of your Security and strategic work.
  • Proven ability to balance operational and strategic work.
