Job Summary: Responsible for supervising the day-to-day operations of the Safety and Security Department to provide maximum safety and security for students, staff, center property and the surrounding community. Serves as the center's designated safety and occupational health officer. Ensures proper screening of staff, students, and visitors entering and exiting the site. Responsible for the Center Occupational Health and Safety program.Duties/Responsibilities:

- Assists students in adjusting to Center life to enhance student retention by providing supervision, behavior modification, counseling, and by acting as a positive role model and mentor.
- Ensures that student needs are met in a timely professional manner with the highest degree of customer service in mind.
- Adheres to all PRH and CSDC policies and procedures, and the Center Operating Procedures.
- Prepares reports and forms and documents in CIS case notes and files observations of student's behavior, performance, notable information or events, and progress towards achieving goals and objectives.
- Maintains confidentiality but reports significant events or situations immediately through approved channels to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of students and staff, and to ensure that required reporting occurs, and that students receive emergency services as needed.
- Facilitates prompt and appropriate assistance to students in the event of injury, illness, or emotional trauma.
- Meets individually with students assigned to their area responsibility at a minimum of once each month documenting the meetings in case notes.
- Ensures equipment and assigned work areas are clean and maintained in accordance with Center, CSD, and DOL standards, including conducting quarterly property counts, submitting property relocation requests, may serve as a property custodian, and submits maintenance requests as needed.
- Enforces all laws, rules and regulations. Enforces the Zero Tolerance Policy and reports violations immediately to supervisor and/or duty officer.
- Acts as the Security supervisor on shift.
- Patrols assigned areas and remains alert for disturbances, fires, safety hazards, traffic violators, suspicious acts and/or persons, and other unusual conditions.
- Aids and assists visitors, students, and staff.
- Performs building security and safety checks and inspections.
- Receives complaints, investigates complaints, and documents facts incident reports, investigation summary reports.
- Escorts students as directed to dorms, security, may monitor students involved in discipline incidents, and may pack and transport students.
- Investigates vehicular accidents at the center and completes vehicle accident reports.
- Responds to any reports of disturbances, unauthorized visitors, medical emergencies, and may be asked to search and quickly locate students upon request.
- Prepares written accident reports involving students, staff, and visitors.
- Enforces center pass policy.
- Attend training as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
RequirementsQualifications: Minimum: High school graduate or equivalent. Two years work-related experience. May require a Guard Card or ability to obtain a Guard Card per State requirements. Preferred: Associates degree or bachelor's degree in criminal justice or closely related field. Safety Certifications, law enforcement experience. Extensive experience. Knowledge: Knowledge of investigative techniques. Knowledge of riot and crowd control techniques. Knowledge of law enforcement procedures. Ability to obtain and maintain a valid State driver's license. Must obtain and maintain valid CPR/FA certificates. Ability to effectively relate to trainee population. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Ability to obtain state Security officer certification within 90 days of hire.
