Security Technician - Detention FacilitiesSystems Technologies is an industry leader in the design, construction and maintenance of electrical and low voltage systems in Wisconsin. This position will have multiple roles ranging from project oversight in the field, system programming, and commissioning, installation of field devices, and the servicing of high end integrated security systems. - Performs service/installation of IP based access control, video surveillance systems, and other various security related systems.
- Evaluates, diagnoses, troubleshoots systems and perform repairs as necessary.
- Performs upgrades and additions to systems in order to increase functionality and usability.
- Performs computer program entry as required to add video surveillance cameras, access control devices, and other security systems as needed.
- Responds to emergency situations during or after hours for the purpose of resolving immediate safety/security concerns.Evaluates, diagnoses, troubleshoots systems and perform repairs as necessary.
- Attends meetings, workshops, training, and seminars for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform job functions.
- Assists other trades personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities (i.e. coordination with electricians, locksmith, carpenters).
- Coordinates with administration and other trades for the purpose of completing projects/work orders efficiently.
- Requests equipment and supplies for the purpose of maintaining vehicle inventory and ensuring availability of required items.
- Informs personnel regarding procedures and/or status of work orders for the purpose of providing necessary information for making decisions, taking appropriate action and/or complying with health and safety regulations.
- Prepares documentation in a variety of written and electronic formats (e.g. daily paperwork/log, time and materials, key and material records, key inventory, etc.) for the purpose of providing written support in compliance with regulations and/or conveying information.
- Transports a variety of items (e.g. tools, equipment, supplies, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of materials required at job site.
Qualifications:
- Associate Degree in Electronics, Electro-mechanical, Computer Science, Information Technology or other related field
- 1-2 years' work experience in service industry, contracting, engineering, Information Technology or related experience required
- Valid drivers' license and insured personal transportationAbility to pass a criminal background check and Motor Vehicle Record Check as access into Detention Facilities and statewide travel is REQUIRED
- Demonstrated intermediate ability to use standard office software (i.e Microsoft Suite) along with a strong understanding of IP configuration and network
- Intermediate knowledge of structured cabling and basic AC/DC Circuits & Theory.
- Maintaining confidentiality of work related information and materials
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, including tact and diplomacy.
- Effective organization and planning skills
- Maintain an established work schedule, including some evenings and weekends.
- Mechanical and Electrical aptitude.
- Ability to understand and follow instructions precisely.
- Ability to read blueprints, architectural, mechanical, and electrical documents.
- Ability to work independently.
- Work is performed while standing, sitting and /or walking, & climbing up & down ladders.
- Requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching, kneeling, balancing.
- Climbing ladders of various heights and working in cramped corridors.
- Requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull minimum of 50 lbs. with no assistance.
- Standing for over 95% of workday and / or sitting for 2 hours at a time.
- Working in indoor & outdoor conditions.
- Requires activities involving being around moving machinery, exposure to changes in temperature and humidity, and exposure to dust, fumes, and gases.
- Specific vision abilities required for this job may include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust and focus.
- Operate motor vehicles independently.
- Operate technologies and equipment as required by the installation plan.
