Job Description:

KWS Seeds LLC. is looking for a Seed Production Planning Sr. Supervisor to join our team in Tangent, OR! The role is responsible for supporting overall seed production, while performing all duties and responsibilities required to produce high yielding, high quality, pure beet seed.

Essential Job Functions:

* Assist the Production Manager in developing strategies and implementation plans to improve and standardize all aspects of operations.

* Ensure that operational processes stay within agreed upon budgets and timelines. This includes creating budgets and tracking costs throughout the season.

* Manage capital projects across the field department to ensure that they have the appropriate budget and resources to be completed on time. Ensure capital projects support our department's strategy.

* Maintain positive working relationships during operational activities during all stages of production. Support teams within the division/organization to assist in seed production. Establish and maintain personal competency in all aspects of seed production (steck nursery, seed/steck harvest/transplant, and crop maintenance).

* Drive steck nursery production by establishing adequate production fields to support stable production demand. Continue to evaluate pre-commercial and commercial stecks planted vs steck demand. Identify any shortages/overages and address accordingly.

* Create steck harvest and transplant plans working closely with the steck nursery, pre-commercial and seed production supervisors. Rigorously monitor harvest and transplant progress ensuring projections are met, adjusting the plan as needed. Monitor and address any steck quality issues.

* Maintain and update master data files such as stecks available, stecks to harvest (including harvest rates), estimated units, seed harvest and final recovery. Compile and analyze genetic data through steck nursery and seed harvest. Find trends across genetics, fields, growers, regions etc. Use this information to drive both genetic and agronomic programs. Track genetics that need to be managed outside of our standard protocols.

* Resolve issues by making production and business operational improvements. This includes but is not limited to adjusting SOP's, creating project groups, trials, etc. in order to address/solve the problem.

* Ensure product integrity through the supply chain. This includes but is not limited to process flow, record keeping, and inventory/system accuracy. Adjust processing SOP's as needed to ensure product integrity.

* Manage new trait roll out's establishing and implementing SOP's ensuring no genetic purity risk.

* Evaluate and implement new technology for field production activities keeping relevant stakeholders involved for testing and feedback. Implement new technology and support its adoption through the field department.

* Support the field computer systems ensuring operations are tracked as required. Train and troubleshooting issues when needed.

* Ensure Company handbook, Rules, Guidelines, Procedures and safety policies are followed and personal protective equipment is used correctly.

* Travel, domestic and international, and/or drive on behalf of the business.

* Meet attendance requirements.

* Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree or equivalent in agriculture or business field.

* 3+ years' experience in production management.

* Effective in fostering a team-oriented work environment.

* Ability to efficiently manage multiple projects.

* Strong problem-solving skills.

* Excellent time management and organizational skills.

* Proficient in Microsoft Office and project-related database.

* Domestic and international travel required.

* Valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:

* SAP or equivalent system experience.

* 3 years of experience in seed production.

* High level of understanding of plant growth stages.

Working Environment:

* Must wear required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) when required.

* High Mobility- able to cover multiple areas including staircases safely and quickly and able to bend/twist.

* Able to work in varied environmental conditions (loud, hot, cold, dusty, damp, etc), including outdoor work and field work with exposure to pollen, dust and variable weather conditions.

* Flexibility to work occasional weekends and holidays as needed.
