We are looking for a Seed Science Operations (SSO) Agronomy Manager to join our Agricultural Solutions team in Seymour, IL.

As a SSO Agronomy Manager you will support the site SSO team by overseeing operational plans, driving collaborations within the team, facilitating workflows, executing field trial protocols, maintaining and managing efficient resources, training and mentoring site staff, helping manage assets and budgets, and helping ensure the team delivers high quality data for product advancement.

* Managing small plot field trials from planting to harvest, including activities such as trialing location identification, field or seedbed preparation, planting, scouting, in-crop pesticide applications, pest (insect and disease) identification & monitoring, phenotypic data collection throughout the season, harvesting, seed quality analysis, data reporting, presenting, etc
* Adhering to stewardship, regulatory, quality, and safety compliance guidelines, policies, and procedures. This includes documentation, record keeping, data management, trial management, periodic trainings, audits, etc
* Providing mid-year and year-end employee performance & development reviews for direct reports and conduct local HR duties for site staff.
* Developing collaborative relationships with internal and external partners. These may include, but are not limited to, Breeding & Trait Development Managers, SSO Agronomists, Regulatory,Stewardship, Strategic Marketing, Crop Protection, Analytical Services, area growers, universities, various equipment service providers, etc
If you have...
* PhD with minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, MS with minimum of 6 years of relevant experience, BS with minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, or High School Diploma with minimum of 12 years of relevant experience.
* Relevant experience in crop yield trialing, high throughput phenotyping, crop modelling, crop management and/or experimental designs.
* 2 years of people management experience, setting day-to-day operational objective for teams.
* Extensive knowledge of soybean agronomics. Knowledge of corn agronomics, a plus.
* Strong skill sets in organization, communication, and interpersonal understanding, with the ability to work independently or in a team environment (in a supporting role or as a supervisor).
* Demonstrate problem solving skills and the ability to be flexible within dynamic situations, to ensure minimal impact on data and production.
* Experience operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting tractors, sprayers, planters, plot combines, and/or other related small plot equipment.
* Ability to travel up to 10%, domestically and potentially internationally, as well

Pay transparency
BASF is committed to pay transparency practices. The competitive Pay Range for this role is $111,200 - $152,900. Actual pay will be determined based on education, certifications, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
