Job Description:

The Library of Congress is accepting applications from people who wish to be considered for employment at the Library under its Selective Placement Program (SPP). It is the policy of the Library to recruit and hire qualified applicants with targeted disabilities by assisting these individuals in obtaining employment consistent with their level of skills and abilities and their capacity for safe and efficient job performance.

This announcement may be used to fill one or more vacancies at any time without notification, in any series or grade. Typical job opportunities within the Library can include, but are not limited to, the following occupations:

Education: Some positions may require specific training, education and/or degrees depending on the series and grade level of the position being filled.

Experience: Applicants must have had progressively responsible experience and training sufficient in scope and quality to furnish them with an acceptable level of knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position. The detailed description of your work experience in your personal resume must clearly demonstrate that you have gained and currently possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities to satisfactorily perform the duties of the position being filled. Transcripts and certifications provided as proof of qualifying education and/or training must be submitted at the time of application.

Part-Time, Volunteer or Unpaid Experience: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and/or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours worked per week. Volunteer work experience can include work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student and social).
