Operations Technician IIPosition SummarySEMCO is seeking an
Operations Technician II to join our team in Macomb, MI! Under general supervision, the
Operations Technician II supports the Operations Department withfield duties relating to installing, operating, and maintaining gas service lines, pipelines, gas regulator stations, meters, and storage fields within their assigned geographic area.
Tasks and Responsibilities- Support sectionalizing and valve maintenance programs for transmission and distribution systems, including documentation, permits, PCP preparation, compliance, scheduling, and field locates.
- Support the annual leak survey adhering to Company / MPSC requirements.
- Coordinate 3rd Party Pipeline Crossings, Damage Prevention, and Contractor Intervention Requests.
- Assist in other Operational Areas when required, including, but not limited to, line locating, leak survey, inspection, collection, look-ups, and Miss Dig regular and emergency ticket activities.
- Review documentation related to essential functions to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Support required MPSC Inspections as needed. Handles customer and contractor inquiries, complaints, and problems with courtesy and professionalism.
- Attends all regular and special meetings and training events as required by the department.
- Support customer inquiries of relocations, build-overs, meter upgrades, and inside meters.
- Open, update, and close job orders as needed.
- Other duties as required including training support, project oversight, administrative assignments, tool calibration, repair and tracking, etc.
Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Associate degree or bachelor's degree preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in the electrical or gas industry preferred.
- Successful completion of Operator Qualification (s).
- Previous knowledge of basic mechanical & electrical principles, preferred.
- Excellent customer service orientation.
- Analytical, organizational, and written/oral communication skills.
- Excellent knowledge of various personal computer business software applications used by the Company. Ability to learn new systems or software packages as necessary.
- Ability to maintain a positive work atmosphere through effective interactions and communications with co-workers, customers, and management.
- Maintain a safe environment for co-workers, customers, and the public through strict adherence to safety standards and timely reporting of potential hazards.
- Must adhere to all Company policies and procedures related to the code of business ethics, compliance, responsible use of Company assets, and all applicable state and federal laws.
The hourly wage for this role is between $32 and $35 per hour, commensurate with experience, education, and skills. We also provide a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off, effective your first day of employment.
