THE POSITION

The Department of Transportation is on the lookout for a Semi Skilled Laborer to join their team. This role involves a variety of tasks, including general upkeep of buildings and surrounding areas, as well as custodial responsibilities for District 1-0. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will be responsible for communicating and assisting the Maintenance Repairman with routine building maintenance requests as well as specialized tasks. Should any assignments require further clarification, you are encouraged to reach out to the Maintenance Repairman or your direct supervisor for guidance.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

+ Full-time employment

+ Work hours are 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.

+ Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

+ One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction;or

+ An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Conditions of Employment:

+ You must possess a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent.

Additional Requirements:

+ You must have one year of experience using grounds keeping Equipment, such as push and riding mower's, weed eaters, leaf blower and snow blowers.

+ You must have experience in general equipment maintenance like cleaning filters, seals, gaskets, oiling, greasing and sharpening tools and equipment.

+ You must have one year of experience using the following hand tools, screw drivers, hand saws, ratchets sets, hammers, wrenches, power drills, paint brushes.

+ You must have one year of experience performing light carpentry work such as replacing screens, shingles, wood trim, cove base, or spouting or building, assembling, or repairing signs, partitions, furniture, or structures.

+ You must have experience using ladders, pallet jacks, fork lifts and or man lifts.

+ You must have interior or exterior painting experience.

+ You must have plumbing experience with drains, sinks, toilets and water fountains.

+ You must have electrical experience with switches and or lighting fixtures.

+ You must have vocational technical high school or post high school training in Carpentry, Mechanics, Electrical, Plumbing and Landscaping.

+ You must have one year of janitorial experience in a commercial setting, such as cleaning offices, window washing (elevated windows), scrubbing toilets, urinals, sinks, trash disposal, and cleaning kitchens.

+ You must be able to perform essential job functions.
