Senior Account Executive - Water

The Southwest Strategies Group is seeking a full-time, salaried Senior Account Executive. In this role, you will assist with community outreach, media relations, and digital media for the agencys water clients. The ideal candidate has previous experience working within the water industry at either a government or Public Affairs organization. We are seeking an individual who is ready to support unique communications needs by developing tailored strategies and tactics that get results. We want strong writers and researchers those who enjoy jumping in and learning everything they can about a client or project.

Position:

Location and Travel: Roles hired in San Diego operate on a hybrid schedule, with 2-3 days onsite in the San Diego Headquarters. Roles outside of San Diego are primarily remote with varying expectations of visits to satellite offices and clients. Travel is required up to 15% of the time. This role will include early mornings, evenings, and weekends as required.

Salary Range: $67,000-$80,000 (dependent on experience)

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with development and implementation of comprehensive communications and outreach programs through all phases of projects, from planning to construction.
  • Develop engaging and innovative content for social media, advertising, videos, websites, fact sheets, presentations, newsletters, and other collateral.
  • Educate the community about projects through targeted outreach and events.
  • Plan public meetings, open houses, workshops, special events, and news conferences.
  • Plan and implement engaging social media campaigns and track metrics and successes.
  • Collaborate with the Creative Department to create impactful outreach campaigns that meet client objectives and budget parameters.
  • Provide day-to-day supervision, motivation, and mentoring of staff.
  • Identify and direct opportunities to expand the client base, including regular networking.
  • Evaluate potential new business opportunities and make recommendations to the Business Development team.
  • Oversee research on behalf of clients, including focus groups and online surveys.

Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Communications, English, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, Public Administration, or similar required.
  • 5+ years previous Public Relations, Marketing, or Community Relations experience required.
  • Experience with client services and client relations; demonstrating diplomacy and tact.
  • Familiarity with developing key messaging, branding, and public outreach materials.
  • Proven success in implementing marketing and communication plans.
  • Social media expertise, including advertising and targeting, preferred.
  • Experience with water preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Superior organizational and multi-tasking skills.
  • Extremely organized and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Fluency in Spanish or another language a bonus.
