About the Role

A senior corporate accountant, a key member of the corporate accounting team, is responsible for the monthly close process, ensuring financial statements are accurate and compliant with internal controls and accounting standards. Reporting to the corporate accounting manager, this professional works closely with project accounting teams and other corporate departments. Additionally, they assist in implementing accounting and reporting systems and support the internal and external audit process.

To be successful in this role, strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills are essential, along with proficient problem-solving abilities. Familiarity with US GAAP and IFRS accounting standards and proficiency in Excel are also important. The ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment is critical. Finally, the ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks, and meet reporting close deadlines is paramount for those in this position.

Key Responsibilities

* Execute journal entries during the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, focusing on areas such as corporate cash, prepaid expenses, related party transactions, SG&A expenses, and Company-wide functions including payroll, debt, fixed asset and lease accounting, intangibles, among others, on a rotational basis.

* Conduct thorough reviews and monitoring of general ledger accounts to ensure the precision and accuracy of financial statements.

* Develop and maintain monthly and quarterly account reconciliations.

* Collaborate with internal departments to generate detailed monthly and quarterly variance analyses.

* Monitor and enhance internal controls to guarantee compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) requirements.

* Offer comprehensive support for both internal and external auditing processes.

* Actively participate in special projects, contributing to the department's goals and broader finance initiatives as required.

Knowledge and Experience Required

* Bachelor's degree in accounting or a closely related field, with a preference for CPA Certification.

* A minimum of 4 years of cumulative experience, ideally gained in a Big 4 public accounting firm and/or a major public corporation.

* Proficient in the practical application of US GAAP and IFRS accounting standards.

* Exceptional skills in technical writing and verbal communication.

* Capable of thriving in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment.

* Competence in managing multi-faceted projects alongside regular day-to-day responsibilities.

* A collaborative mindset with a positive attitude, openness to learning, and adaptability to evolving business needs.

* Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems such as D365, OneStream, IFS, Kyriba.

* Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

Note: Offices continue to be central to collaboration and Brookfield's identity. This position requires the employee to be on-site for a minimum of 4 days to perform most effectively. We will reassess the approach on a as needed basis.

Pay Range: $80-100k/yr.
