Job Description:As a Senior Accountant for a religious organization we are partnering up with, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the integrity and accuracy of our clients financial records, as well as contributing to the development and implementation of new accounting systems. Your responsibilities will encompass a range of tasks, including financial analysis, reconciliation, reporting, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. This position reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and involves supervising a small team of accounting staff.Key Responsibilities:
- Perform thorough examination, analysis, and maintenance of financial records in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) standards.
- Prepare financial reports, including management financial statements, and ensure their accuracy and timeliness.
- Develop and implement new accounting systems to improve efficiency and accuracy in financial reporting.
- Monitor and maintain schedules related to fixed assets, amortization, and prepaid expenses.
- Interface with internal stakeholders, including various departments within the organization, as well as external stakeholders such as vendors and consultants, as needed.
- Conduct ad-hoc reporting on various data points as requested by the CFO.
- Take primary accountability for month-end close procedures, management financial statement reporting, and annual audit support.
- Manage bank reconciliations and oversee fixed assets management processes.
- Work collaboratively with the CFO and accounting staff to maintain the general ledger and ensure accurate reporting.
- Coordinate with the Receivable Clerk to ensure the integrity of Rock RMS, their Donor Management system, and its accurate reflection in the General Ledger.
Skills/Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting; CPA certification is a plus.
- Minimum of 3+ years of experience in public accounting and/or non-profit sector accounting.
- Strong knowledge and experience with accounting principles and GAAP Standards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including VBA (Visual Basic for Applications).
- Experience with accounting software and systems; proficiency with Microsoft Dynamics is highly desirable.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and critical analysis abilities.
- Supervisory experience, with the ability to oversee and mentor 1 - 3 employees.
- Strong business instincts, with the ability to identify problems quickly, synthesize various factors, and make effective decisions to drive positive outcomes for the organization.
