JDP is seeking a Senior Accountant in Elmira, NY area. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for preparing monthly financial close utilizing various financial reports for three (3) companies. Perform balance sheet account reconciliations, verify accuracy of recorded transactions, and maintain general ledgers.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare monthly financial close with financial reports for three (3) companies
- Perform balance sheet account reconciliations
- Verify that transactions are recorded properly
- Maintain the general ledgers
- Prepare tax return data as requested by outside accountants
- Assist with audit preparations and requests for information
- Assist in financial forecasting & budgeting for three companies
- Analyze financial records and statements for discrepancies
- Identify and report financial internal control discrepancies and non-compliance issues
- Make recommendations for ways to reduce costs, enhance revenue, and streamline processes
- Mentor and train other accounting staff and delegate accounting tasks
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- 5-7 years of directly related experience in accounting
- Familiarity working in the manufacturing industry
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards
- Proficient in Quickbooks, Microsoft Excel; experience with NetSuite preferred
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong communications skills, both oral and written. Ability to work independently and as a team.
