Job Description:
Job Title: Senior Accountant Reports To: Controller/CFO ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Accountant Job Duties:
  • Prepares asset, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
  • Post financial transactions including Journal Entries, Accruals, Prepaid, Fixed Assets.
  • Reconciliation of all subledgers to general ledger (monthly and quarterly) correcting financial discrepancies.
  • Process vendor invoices by Property, verifying accuracy, posting each with details and verifying documentation is in agreement with any existing contract or regulatory agreements.
  • Cut checks/secure signatures, mail and file invoices.
Bank reconciliations.
  • Prepare and update all work papers reconciling to trial balance.
  • Prepare Monthly Cash-Flow reports with variance analysis of budget to actual.
Substantiates financial transactions by auditing documents and assist external auditors for interim and year-end audit engagements.
  • Maintains accounting controls in place and recommending policies and procedures is encouraged.
  • Provides support to Property Managers by assisting and researching transactions when necessary.
  • Answers accounting procedure questions by researching and interpreting accounting policy and regulations.
  • Prepares special financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends as needed.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge as may be required.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
WHAT SKILLS ARE REQUIRED
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years' experience in a similar role.
Working knowledge of financial and core accounting concepts, techniques, and regulatory requirements.
  • Able to handle many separate accounting entities.
  • Understanding of both financial and operational processes and controls.
  • Proficient with YARDI (or ERP system), EXCEL, Microsoft Outlook at a minimum.
  • Construction and/or multi-family apartment experience, preferred.
  • Ability to understand business objectives, strategies and directions and to develop & implement actions plans accordingly.
  • Ability to collaborate internally and externally at all organizational levels.
  • Effective in project management, implementation and follow through.
  • Excellent customer service; good interpersonal/problem solving skills.
