About the Position Reporting to the Controller, the Senior Staff Accountant is a key position within the accounting organization responsible for assisting with the full accounting cycle including month-end close, journal entries, bank reconciliations, and ensuring the accuracy of financial information. We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented accounting professional that will play a critical role in maintaining internal controls, driving the month-end close process, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and has an interest in opportunities for career advancement. Key Responsibilities As the right hand of the Controller, assisting in all aspects of the company's financial operations, including accounting, internal controls, financial reporting, and budgeting. They will ensure the accuracy of financial information, compliance with accounting standards, and timely financial reporting to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Work directly with the Controller and CFO on timely completion of month-end close.
  • Prepare and post general ledger journals including revenue, bad debt reserve, intercompany expenses, prepaid expense, accruals, and other ledger activity as needed.
  • Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of the financial statements and other information reported to internal and external users.
  • Maintaining fixed assets; including asset additions, disposals, sales, and monthly depreciation.
  • Reconcile and record daily cash.
  • Monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Back up various accounting functions, as needed.
  • Work closely with Accounts Payable to ensure proper coding of expenses.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while achieving department goals and objectives.
Qualifications and Skills The ideal candidate for this position will possess the following attributes:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance; CPA certification not required.
  • 2+ years of accounting or financial reporting experience.
  • Analytical skills with knowledge of accounting principles and standards, including GAAP and IFRS.
  • Self-starter with an ownership mindset; ability to prioritize, organize, and drive multiple workstreams.
  • Desire to work with fast-paced and entrepreneurial organizations with frequent exposure to senior leadership.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and coachability.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated and directed with the ability to learn quickly.
