Job DescriptionJob Posting: Senior Accountant Location: Houston, Texas About Us: We are a dynamic and growing company seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our team. This role is integral to ensuring accurate financial reporting and contributing to our continuous improvement efforts. Responsibilities:
  • Financial Statements: Prepare accurate and timely financial statements as per our established schedule, incorporating input from the Accounting Team.
  • Full Cycle Accounting: Apply generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) to analyze financial information and prepare both external and management-based financial reports.
  • Month & Year-End Close: Manage the general journal entries, accruals, account analysis, and reconciliation of accounts for month and year-end close processes.
  • Cost Accounting: Oversee the cost accounting function, including cycle count auditing, standard cost roll processes, inventory E&O reserve preparation and review, manufacturing variances, and inventory management and reconciliation.
  • Financial Forecasting: Prepare flash reports, quarterly P&L and Balance Sheet forecasts, and annual Financial Plans.
  • Internal Audit Support: Assist with the Corporate internal audit process.
  • Special Projects: Support the Controller with special projects as assigned.
  • Process Improvement: Participate in process improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of internal financial policies and procedures.
  • Internal Controls: Aid in establishing and performing internal control guidelines and testing.
  • Documentation: Maintain well-documented work papers and instructions for journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Reporting: Organize and review various accounting reports, providing feedback to management.
  • Budget Coordination: Assist in the coordination of the annual budget and periodic forecasting.
  • Ad-Hoc Projects: Handle ad-hoc projects and reporting as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in Accounting or Financial Planning & Analysis.
  • Manufacturing & Cost Accounting: Experience with manufacturing, inventory, and cost accounting concepts.
  • ERP Systems: Proficiency in major ERP systems; experience with Hyperion, IFS, and/or SmartView is a plus.
  • Skills: Strong Excel skills, detail-oriented, and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Initiative: Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision and a willingness to take initiative.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to interact effectively with all levels of management and work in both team and individual settings.
  • Multinational Experience: Preferred experience in a manufacturing environment with a multinational corporate structure.
  • Currency Experience: Experience with multiple currencies.
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Language: Excellent oral, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Work Skills: Solid working knowledge of GAAP, Cost Accounting, and ERP systems. Strong project management, analytical, and organizational skills.
Physical Requirements:
  • Regularly required to sit; use hands/fingers to handle, or feel; and talk or hear.
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Working Conditions:
  • The work environment may involve exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock. Noise levels are typically moderate but may be high in an open office environment.
