Our services include 100% affordable housing at 21 locations, family violence services, Holocaust survivor assistance, geriatric social work, crisis intervention, and the largest free kosher food distribution program in the world. Our network of 101 food pantries, affordable housing sites, and JCCs provide services directly in neighborhoods across New York City. Position Summary: We are seeking a detailed-oriented professional to take on the role of Senior Grant Accountant. The ideal candidate focuses on details, thrives on collaboration, and welcomes innovation. This individual will be responsible for the Revenue/Grant Accounting function of Met Council and will assist with the budgeting and reporting process. Principal Responsibilities: Revenue/Grant Accounting (70% - 80%) Maintain portfolio of grants as well as review financial reports and invoices prepared by the Grant Accountant to ensure timely and accurate submission to government funders and private foundations. Assist with the review of invoices as part of the accounts payable process and code them to the proper expense category, to ensure compliance with government & private funding requirements. Prepare monthly journal entries to accrue grant revenue and expenses as well as to record indirect allocations. Collaborate internally with Program, Legal, and Development staff on various grants management functions such as contract registration, reporting requirements, grant details, and grant lists/checklists. Ensure financial compliance with government and private foundation funding requirements. Review and prepare journal entries and allocations, as needed. Budget and Reporting (20% - 30%) Assist the Director of Budgets and Grants Management in the preparation of the annual budget, projections, and ad-hoc requests, as needed. Assist in the preparation of funder desk audits and Met Council annual audit (specifically the Single Audit, Subpart F of the OMB Uniform Guidance). Analyze the actual revenue and expenses incurred versus the budget for the period. Additional responsibilities as required. Competencies: Adaptability and Flexibility Computer Skills Creative and Innovative Thinking Analysis and Reasoning Teamwork Relationship Building Mathematical Thinking Accountability and Dependability Skills and Education: Bachelors degree in accounting, finance, or business (required). 5+ years of grant accounting experience; familiarity with NYC and NYS funder requirements (DFTA, DYCD, OTDA, etc.) (preferred). Proficiency in Microsoft Word. English language proficiency (required). Must be competent in Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, IF functions) (required); Quantitative and Analytic skills are imperative. Must possess critical thinking skills. Must be able to understand the financial impact of budgets and contracts throughout the agency. Compensation: $75,000 - $95,000 per year.
