Job Summary:The Senior Accountant is responsible for preparing month end financials for one or more of the delegates or business units of Acelero Learning. Requirements include preparing accounting entries, analyzing results, preparing reports and reconciling to federal filings throughout the year, performing monthly balance sheet reconciliations and monthly reviews of P&l activity, and preparing bank reconciliations every month. This position may also supervise one or more accountants.Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Prepares monthly closing entries and financial statements on the accrual basis of accounting and trues up to actual results later in the month Reviews all reports required to accrue monthly costs on a timely basis. Allocates costs, reconciles and analyzes results by funding sources and/or departments, which includes using contract codes to identify funding sources. Reconciles general ledger accounts on a monthly basis, including all balance sheet items, and brings any reconciling issues to Controller's attention for resolution. Prepares draft financial statements monthly and leads the review of delegate financials with the appropriate delegate leadership. Reviews trial balances monthly. Identifies and resolves issues. Provides all support to external auditors needed to complete the annual financial statement audit for the respective delegate. Handles other assignments as given by the Controller or SVP of Finance. Participates in assigned meetings, events and training as required.Supervision Supervises assigned department personnel. Includes the following responsibilities, but are not limited to: hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, and ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and the completion of all work performed by direct reports. Educates direct reports on all department and company policies and procedures. Meets with assigned staff regularly to identify and resolve problems, manage projects, track goals, and review work processes and procedures. Represents team and/or department at meetings, events, and training as required.Job Requirements:1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting required; CPA preferred.2. 3 years of experience in general accounting, account analysis/reconciliation and financial reporting.3. Public accounting experience is helpful.4. Not-for-profit experience is helpful.5. Physical exam and background checks are required for this position.6.
