Overview

RES is looking for the Senior Accountant based out of our corporate headquarters in Houston, TX, or any other city mentioned below.

The mission: Reporting to the Manager of Accounting, The Senior Accountant will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of financial records, compliance with regulations, and supporting month-end close processes.

This role also involves analyzing financial data, preparing reports, and providing recommendations to senior management. This is a professional senior-level accounting position requiring a solid understanding of the fundamentals and principles of accounting, the organization's ERP system, and the ability to handle many issues independently.

The candidate must have extensive knowledge of the accounting functions as well as business processes and information flow, with a proven capability to communicate and collaborate with diverse functions in the company including operations, IT, HR, finance and executive leadership.

What your day-to-day might look like?

Your day-to-day will be organised arounf the following areas:

Monthly Accounting Activities:

* Prepare monthly journal entries, including prepaid amortization and operating expense accruals.

* Perform general ledger reconciliations for prepaid accounts and current liabilities.

* Prepare and analyze monthly SG&A financial results for accurate coding and postings.

Tax Compliance

* Coordinate and review sales tax filings to ensure regulatory compliance.

* Work with consultants on federal and state tax filings and payments.

Financial Integrity and Analysis

* Maintain financial record integrity in compliance with GAAP.

* Analyze financial data and trends to provide insights and suggest improvements to senior management.

Audit and Mentoring

* Collaborate with external auditors, preparing necessary schedules and documentation.

* Lead and mentor junior accounting staff.

Qualifications

We would love to talk to you if you have many of the following:

* Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance

* 3 or more years of financial accounting experience, with a strong preference for prior public accounting experience

* Experience with accounting software such as NetSuite or a similar ERP system

* Excellent analytic and problem-solving abilities with a keen attention to detail

* Advanced proficiency in Excel

* Thorough knowledge of GAAP

* Good communication skills and the ability to proactively research and resolve accounting issues

* Flexible to work overtime during peak periods

* Advanced problem solving and root cause analysis combined with proven ability to communicate those analysis

* Highly analytical, detail oriented and strong business sense; proven ability to manage new ideas and creative solutions; achieving effective results in a fast-paced, growing and ambiguous environment

* Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (i.e. SQL, MSAccess, Essbase and/or Cognos)
