Our Senior Accountant is the financial wizard behind the scenes, handling all the complex accounting needs with flair. They take the lead in guiding the accounting team through daily tasks, keeping a sharp eye on the financials, and staying in sync with the company Controller about any financial changes.What You'll Be Doing:
  • Bank Account Reconciliation Extraordinaire: Ensuring everything balances out perfectly.
  • Audit Prep Pro: Getting all the documentation ready for our External Auditors.
  • Financial Detective: Analyzing financial statements for any discrepancies and alerting the Controller if something's off.
  • Audit Coordinator: Helping the CFO run smooth semi-annual audits.
  • Monthly Reconciliations: Keeping our reports accurate and ledgers tidy.
  • Team Leader: Delegating financial tasks to the accounting team.
  • Financial Statement Guru: Preparing workpapers and assisting in the creation of financial statements and footnotes, focusing on Statutory and US GAAP.
  • Annual Statement Hero: Helping prepare the company's annual statement and ensuring all schedules and exhibits are spot on.
  • State Letter Updater: Keeping state letters current.
  • Form Coordinator: Printing and coordinating the completion of state-specific annual forms with STAT accountants.
  • Signature and Notary Wrangler: Obtaining signatures and notaries on all necessary documents.
  • Check Requester: Preparing check requests for annual filing fees and coordinating with AP.
  • Mailing Master: Preparing all FedEx and return receipt mailing labels for annual statement filings.
  • Schedule Preparer: Creating schedules for losses paid, reserves, and IBNR, and preparing JES.
  • Premium Tax Preparer: Ensuring all premium taxes are up-to-date per state requirements.
  • NAIC Filing Expert: Preparing all required NAIC filings.
What We're Looking For:
  • Education: A bachelor's degree in accounting is required.
  • Big 4 Experience: Ideally, a Big 4 chartered accountant with 2-3 years of experience.
  • Insurance Pro: Experience in Property and Casualty Insurance.
  • Excel Enthusiast: Intermediate or better skills in Excel, including Pivot tables and V/H-Lookup.
  • Diary Updater: Keeping track of completion and mailing dates of annual statements by state.
  • PDF Creator: Making PDF copies of all mailings and saving them to the annual directory.
  • Review Specialist: Preparing monthly/quarterly statutory balance sheet reviews and quarterly profit and loss analytical reviews.
  • Reporting Whiz: Handling half-yearly and year-end reporting.
  • Template Updater: Keeping financial reporting templates current.
