Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to provide weekly and monthly (month end close) ownership, accountability, and support of Story cultivated & manufactured and retail inventory with a focus on cost accounting, inventory valuation, balance sheet & P/L reconciliation, and process improvement in line with Story's standard operating procedures. Responsibilities Assists the Assistant Controllers in driving the Month-End Close process for multiple entities. Participates and at time supervises daily accounting department tasks. Prepares and/or reviews appropriate ledger entries and accruals, with a primary focus on cultivated and manufactured inventory, and related costs of production, as well as the reconciliation of retail inventory between the Company's accounting system (Sage Intact) and Point of Sale (Dutchie). Ensures completeness and accuracy of all assigned balance sheet and profit/loss accounts, databases, and files: includes the preparation of appropriate ledger entries and accruals, and completion of monthly balance sheet reconciliations and applicable income statement accounts. Collaborates with the accounting team, and other internal departments to design, document, implement, and monitor processes that establish controls, ownership, and accountability of involved parties related to costs of production, and retail inventory valuation. Performs ad hoc analysis and project participation as requested, including the implementation the Procure to Pay and Order to Cash Tech Stack within new ERP system. Works closely with the accounting team, external auditors, and tax accountants during quarter and year end close to support reporting & regulatory requirements and provide financial commentary and supporting schedules as requested. Experience in cost accounting/absorption accounting for a vertically integrated inventory manufacturing and retail company (non-public company audit and tax compliance). Experience in accounts payable, cash/revenue cycle, with exposure to many other areas of accounting including but not limited to intercompany transactions, eliminations, consolidations and accruals. Provide support and training to accounting direct reports, peers, and other operational team leaders. Experience working in a highly computerized environment and processing financial transactions using and/or implementing an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system and/or accounting software. Sage Intact experience preferred. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Self-starter that places an emphasis on accuracy, completeness, and work product ownership, with the ability to prioritize and complete tasks with competing deadlines. Professional written and verbal communication with multiple levels and departments. Analytical, detail-oriented, and honest. Education and Experience Requirements Bachelor's degree with a concentration in business or accounting. CPA or CPA Candidate preferred. 3+ years of progressive accounting experience. Public accounting experience, as well as corporate accounting experience preferred. 2+ years in Manufacturing/Cost accounting and Retail Inventory accounting experience. 2+ years in cash, sales, payables Thorough knowledge of U.S. GAAP
