Position Overview: Prominent global company in Howard County is looking for a skilled Accountant to join their Team on a contractual basis. This role is a key member of the North America Finance team, responsible for managing monthly financial close activities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, a keen eye for detail, analytical expertise, and excellent communication skills. Key Responsibilities: Execute monthly closing and reporting activities, under the guidance of the division Accounting Leader, including: Prepare analyses to support monthly and quarterly reserves and accruals. Calculate and record general ledger entries. Reconcile intercompany transactions. Perform balance sheet account analysis and reconciliations. Assist with tax and statutory entries and reporting. Collaborate with the Shared Services team to ensure accurate financial records, timely billing, and efficient transactional processing. Work closely with the Solutions Financial Reporting Leader to: Ensure accurate data uploads into reporting tools. Analyze key account variances, providing explanations and actionable recommendations. Conduct ad hoc analyses of business activities and general ledger accounts. Assist with data collection and analysis for strategic projects. Provide support to supply chain and production teams through inventory analysis, labor and overhead absorption, and other operational activities. Continuously improve the efficiency, effectiveness, and sustainability of close and reporting processes. Automate repetitive tasks using available systems and office tools to reduce manual effort. Build positive working relationships with the North America Finance Team and relevant business partners. Share accounting knowledge to help team members understand financial information. Stay up to date on industry trends, company policies, and best practices in accounting, project management, and technical expertise. Qualifications: Experience: 3+ years of progressive experience in finance, accounting, or audit, with a demonstrated ability to perform complex analyses and create actionable reports. Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting (strongly preferred) or Finance. A solid understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and financial analysis principles is required; IFRS knowledge is a significant plus. Technical Skills: Strong experience with ERP/Financial systems and applications. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially advanced Excel skills. Experience with Microsoft Dynamics or SAP (preferred). Knowledge of Access or other multi-dimensional analysis tools is a plus, with the ability to build relational databases and queries. Specialized Knowledge: Strong data analysis skills, including the ability to gather, validate, interpret data, identify anomalies, and generate meaningful insights. Experience with Percentage of Completion Accounting (strongly preferred). Manufacturing industry experience is a plus. CPA or other finance/accounting certification is advantageous. Other Skills: Effective time and project management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Why Join?
