Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled GP Accounting Associate / Senior Associate to join our client's asset management team. This individual will play a critical role in managing and supporting all accounting and financial reporting related to General Partner (GP) entities within the firm. The GP Accounting Associate will work closely with various internal teams, including Fund Accounting, Tax, and Investor Relations, to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting and compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting & Analysis: Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for GP entities, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and firm policies.
- Capital Call & Distribution Management: Calculate and process capital calls and distributions for GP entities, coordinating with Fund Accounting and Investor Relations to ensure accurate and timely transactions.
- General Ledger Maintenance: Oversee the general ledger for GP entities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and adjustments as needed.
- Expense Management & Allocations: Track and allocate expenses to GP entities, ensuring accurate reporting and compliance with allocation policies.
- Valuation & Audit Support: Assist with quarterly and annual valuations, coordinate with external auditors during the audit process, and prepare supporting documentation as required.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of GP accounting functions.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with the Tax, Legal, and Fund Accounting teams to address complex accounting issues, compliance requirements, and respond to ad-hoc requests.
- Data Management & Reporting: Leverage data management tools and systems to support internal and external reporting needs, ensuring the accuracy of information used for decision-making and investor reporting.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA preferred.
- Experience: 2-8 years of accounting experience, ideally within asset management, private equity, or a related industry; prior experience in GP or partnership accounting is a plus.
- Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting systems; experience with data management tools or ERP systems is a plus.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with accounting principles, partnership accounting, and general understanding of capital markets or asset management operations.
- Analytical Skills: Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to analyze and resolve complex financial issues.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
