Job Position: Senior Accounting ClerkLocation: Ridgeland, SC 29936Pay Rate: $22.00/hrShift: Mon - Fri 8am to 5pmPOSITION SUMMARY:This position is responsible for performing moderately complex technical account work in preparation and maintenance of the budget, procurement functions, and various financial correspondence for the county government.MAJOR DUTIES: Provide administrative support to the Director of Administrative Services Provide accounting support duties relative to budget preparation and maintenance, grants, procurement, and other accounting functions of the County. Assist with preparation of financial and statistical statements and reports. Analyze financial information, including but not limited to, budget to actual monthly reports, to identify discrepancies. Research and resolve discrepancies in a timely fashion. Interpret and apply accounting policies, rules, and regulations to all work to ensure compliance with applicable standards. Compile and prepare routine reports and summaries. Prepare cash receipts documents on a weekly basis. Reconcile bank statements quarterly or as needed. Maintain digital and physical financial records. Enter financial transactions into internal database. Assist in the procurement process as needed. Issue invoices and grant reimbursement requests to customers and external partners. Participate in quarterly and annual audits. Aid other departments as needed with regard to financial reporting. Performs other related duties as assigned.KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED: Knowledge of County accounting policies, internal control procedures, cash receipts posting processes, and budget and procurement ordinances. Skill in the use of computers and various software programs, including Excel and Word. Skill in interpersonal relations. Skill in oral and written communication. Proficient to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications, including Excel. Strong attention to detail and accuracy and organizational skills. Ability to work independently on assigned duties. Demonstrates an ability to manage a variety of priorities while meeting deadlines.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Associate degree in Accounting, Bookkeeping, Finance, or similar field, preferred. However, an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience can be substituted. 3 - 5 years of relevant hands-on experience
