Provides excellent service levels in budget and financialreporting. Ensures integrity andaccuracy in recording transactions, balancing accounts, and preparing reports.HSU JOB FAMILY CLASSIFICATION INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING: ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Compilesand analyzes financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such asgeneral ledger accounts, documenting business transactions.Distributes expenditures, encumbrances,receipts, and receivables according to schedules.Analyzes financial information detailingassets, liabilities, and capital, and prepares balance sheet, profit and lossstatement, and other reports to summarize and interpret current and projectedcompany financial position for other managers.Monitors compliance with generallyaccepted accounting principles and company procedures.Reviews, investigates, and correctserrors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports.Installs, modifies, documents, andcoordinates implementation of accounting systems and accounting controlprocedures.Devises and implements system forgeneral accounting.Preparesroutine and complex journal entries.Performsmonthly account reconciliations.Assistsassistant controller in recording all debt activity for the university andensures compliance with GAAP and FASB.Preparesmonthly financial statement package for nursing consortium and university'sthree foundations.Monitorsand tracks fixed assets and depreciation for the university.Analyzeprocedures and prepare recommendations for improvement with accounts payableand other accounting procedures. Helpimplement changes with assistance from assistant controller and controller.Preparemonthly reconciliation between donor and accounting software. Overseeuniversity pledges and proper recording according to GAAP requirements inaccounting software. Ensure correctreconciling differences in donor software.Preparemonthly report for Controller and VP for Finance regarding outstanding donorcontributions.Performmonthly reconciliation and monitoring of university liability accounts.Monitor,track, and record all construction in progress for university including budgetto actual, date of completion, expense versus capitalization, and determiningwhen to record completion to fixed assets.Assistwith grant expense monitoring and reconciliation to ensure University ismeeting OMB Uniform Guidance requirements.Performmonthly sales tax reconciliation and filing to the state.Reconcileaccounts receivable and insurance billing for university autism center.Reviewand approve general and university travel credit card activity on monthly basisalerting controller of any compliance issues with university policy.Preparereports for analysis of CIP and work with VP for Finance, Controller, AssistantController, maintenance, and construction teams to ensure capital projects aremeeting capital budgeting proposals.Assistcontroller and VP for Finance with annual budgeting process including assistingcampus wide department head and managers with budget needs and input for newfiscal year.Assistuniversity departments with electronic invoicing and credit card processorsystems.Workwith assistant controller and VP for Finance to obtain data for monthlyprojections.Analyzeprojections with assistant controller and VP for Finance to ensure financialstatement groups are properly reported and in line with budget goals.Performscross training and provides backup to other positions within the accountingdepartment.Calculatesand analyzes budget variances.Assistscampus budget managers in interpreting budget information, researching transactions, providingguidance and resolving problems.Monitorsgeneral ledger activity, researches and resolves issues in a timely manner.Assistswith the year-end audit, preparing schedules and supporting workpapers.Ensuresongoing accuracy and current maintenance of the University's general ledger byanalyzing balances in all fund groups, in addition to related entities andfoundations.Providessupport in preparing multiple financial statements and specialized financialreports for the University, related entities, and foundations.Preparesand maintains spreadsheets and provides assistance in analyzing data.Performsbasic research in county records and tax offices as needed. Prepares payment for annual property tax.Staysabreast of current and developing accounting issues.Otherduties as may be assigned.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:Thereare no supervisory responsibilities for this position, except for studentworkers.
