The Kansas Commission on Peace Officers' Standards and Training was created as an independent state agency during the 2006 legislative session to regulate the law enforcement profession in the State of Kansas. The staff of the Commission is responsible for implementation of regulations and policies set by the KS- CPOST Commission. The Executive Director is the agency head, and guidance is provided by the Chairman and various committees of the Commission.

Position Description:

Manage SMART and SHARP Systems
Creating requisitions, obtaining purchase order numbers, managing human resources, responding to KORA requests and similar office management duties.
Receptionist Responsibilities
Answering the telephone and responding to questions are essential to the position. This position is expected to process all incoming and outgoing mail. This position will manage the office calendar and process receipts for reconciliation.
Assists Central Registry Manager
This position involves receiving agency mail or faxes, stamping with time and date, organizing based on task, and assisting the Central Registry Manager with processing the information received in an organized manner to the appropriate data base then filing the paperwork accurately. Data entry accuracy is essential to the position.
Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director
May include Central Registry application project management, attendance and completion of training assigned by Executive Director, analyzing or proofreading documents for errors, website maintenance and other miscellaneous tasks.
Minimum Qualifications
* Ability to pass a criminal history background check.
* 1+ years of responsible administrative support/assistant experience.
* Demonstrated reading, writing, grammar and comprehension abilities to effectively interact with coworkers, citizens, and business associates and to comprehend work direction.
* Work history reflecting competence in office practices, records filing and management techniques, and effective customer service techniques.
* Ability to receive general instructions and independently develop methods to produce desired results with limited supervision.
* Demonstrated use and knowledge of computers to include proficiency in the operation of Microsoft Office Applications such as Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etc. is mandatory.
* Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, interpreting and enforcing policies and procedures, troubleshoot complex problems, compile and analyze data, and prepare reports.
* Ability to employ effective customer service techniques.
Physical Qualifications
This position will require reaching, keyboarding, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, repetitive motions and climbing up and down a two-step stool in the process of filing. Duties entail sedentary work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force or lifting equal amounts. Must be able to lift or carry files. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Although the position is primarily sedentary it will require walking, standing and climbing up and down on a two-step stepstool. Bending to floor levels to lift and file will be required. Stretching above head level is also needed for the same purpose.
Post Offer Requirement:
State of Kansas Tax Clearance Certificate. The successful applicant (even non-residents) must obtain a valid Kansas Certificate of Tax Clearance by accessing the Kansas Department of Revenue's website within 10 days of the date the applicant has been offered the employment position.
