SALARY RANGE: $86,975 - $149,519
BACKGROUND CHECK

PROBATION
All persons, including current City employees, selected for this position must complete a mandatory 6-month probation.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Senior Advisor for Government Relations will work closely with the Mayor's Office to provide strategic advice on government relations matters. This position will be responsible for managing and coordinating the City's government relations efforts at the local, state, and federal levels. The Senior Advisor will work with City agencies and departments to develop and implement legislative and regulatory strategies, provide counsel on legislative and policy matters, and identify and track emerging issues.

Responsibilities:
???????????Develop and implement legislative and regulatory strategies to advance the City's policy priorities.
???????????Work with City agencies and departments to identify and track emerging issues and develop strategies to address them.
???????????Monitor and analyze legislative and regulatory developments at the local, state, and federal levels.
???????????Represent the City in meetings with elected officials, government agencies, and other stakeholders.
???????????Provide counsel to the Mayor and other senior City officials on legislative and policy matters.
???????????Prepare briefing materials, talking points, and other materials for City officials on government relations matters.
???????????Build and maintain relationships with elected officials, government agencies, and other stakeholders.
???????????Coordinate with City departments and agencies to ensure consistent messaging and strategy on government relations matters.
???????????Develop and implement strategies to engage the public on government relations matters.
SKILLS, ABILITIES AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
???????????Strong knowledge of the legislative and regulatory processes at the local, state, and federal levels.
???????????Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
???????????Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
???????????Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
???????????Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
???????????Experience working in local government or with elected officials preferred.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in political science, public policy, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
????????At least 5-7 years of experience in government relations or related field.
