You'll oversee election operations, provide training and support, and ensure effective communication between county offices and agency leadership. Reporting to the Division Director, this role is key to ensuring efficient, fair elections across South Carolina.Job ResponsibilitiesThis position serves as the supervisor and lead of the agency's area representatives team. Under limited supervision by, and reporting directly to the division director, the senior agency area representative will be:Supervising and Managing a Team of Area Representatives
Oversee and coordinate the work of Area Representatives across various counties, conducting regular meetings to provide guidance, support, and performance evaluations.Ensure consistent operations and adherence to agency standards, acting as the escalation point for complex issues faced by Area Representatives and providing solutions or referrals to higher management. Serving as Agency's Primary Point of Contact for High-Priority Counties
Act as the main contact for counties with complex or high-priority election needs, delivering enhanced operational training and on-site support, as needed. Coordinating Communication between County Offices and Agency Leadership
Facilitate communication between Area Representatives, county offices, and agency leadership, relaying feedback to inform strategic planning and resource allocation.Identify trends, challenges, and opportunities for improvements within county operations, contributing to agency innovation and efficiency. Mentoring and Training Area Representatives
Provide mentorship and training to less experienced team members, promoting development in voter registration and election management.Lead by example, demonstrating best practices and ensuring team members are informed on changes in state election law and technology.Provide mentorship and on-the-job training and support to county election directors who are new/less experienced in voter registration and election management in SC. Contributing to the Development and Revision of Statewide Policies and Procedures
Serve as a senior resource in drafting, revising, and implementing standardized procedures across counties, collaborating with other senior staff and legal advisors to maintain compliance with election laws and industry best practices.Become a part of our dedicated team and help shape the future of elections in South Carolina! Minimum and Additional Requirements Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Political Science, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of five years of experience in election administration, public administration, or a related area, with at least two years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of state election laws, voter registration, and election processes.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to travel frequently within assigned counties.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a relevant field.
- Comprehensive knowledge of South Carolina election laws and procedures.
- Demonstrated experience in training and mentoring teams.
- Experience in policy development and strategic planning.
- Proficiency in election management technology and systems.
