SENIOR ANALYST - WRIGHT PATTERSON, AFB (ON SITE)
TASKS and RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The Senior Analyst shall provide subject matter expertise to the performance of statistical analysis of the impact of conditions identified during accession to the Air Force on longer term outcomes of interest to the Air Force, such as duty performance and retention.
- The Senior Analyst shall perform statistical analysis of existing data sets and creation of datasets for statistical analysis in SAS/EG.
- The Senior Analyst shall scope and design projects, develop, monitor and report on timelines and milestones, and produce progress reports.
- The Senior Analyst shall assist in the creation of useful stratification methods for the analysis of created data sets, based upon ICD codes or other criteria which may be deemed useful.
- The Senior Analyst shall assist in the development of credible, theoretically driven statistical models exploring the relationship between variables identified in data sets within the AVHE environment outcomes of interest to the Air Force.
- The Senior Analyst shall perform under guidance validation and verification protocols, to ensure that the products of study are performing as expected, and assist in performing corrections, in the event of models failing to perform to standard.
- The Senior Analyst shall assist in the drafting of written communication for internal and external purposes.
- The Senior Analyst shall participate as an expert in health statistics in interdisciplinary planning and analysis.
- The Senior Analyst shall acquire data access permissions necessary to perform stated tasks.
- The Senior Analyst shall use Air Force medical records systems and standards in performance of job duties.
- The Senior Analyst shall use all relevant data repositories as part of work, or which are generated in pursuit of work.
- The Senior Analyst shall collect data from various databases, pursuant to agreements with database owners.
- The Senior Analyst shall establish the relationship of available data to existing data sets, map the data between data elements and code for these specific data elements, establish data storage architecture requirements, and create a comprehensive data dictionary.
- The Senior Analyst shall provide conference support assistance by active participation in professional conferences, preparation of posters and presentations, and publication of peer- reviewed manuscripts, in order to support distribution of study product.
- The Senior Analyst shall brief study findings at appropriate meetings or forums, as determined by the Government.
- The Senior Analyst shall provide technical automation support for all versions of MS Windows, Microsoft (MS) Office (e.g., MS Access, MS Excel, MS Publisher), MS SQL, and Adobe.
- The Senior Analyst shall provide data creation and administration in support of model development, analysis, and publication.
- The Senior Analyst shall document products for the actual computer code used in order for government personnel to access these files for review, approval, or for generating copies as required. All requirements shall be prepared in accordance with USAFSAM programming standards and standard commercial practices inclusive of any/all procedures implanted as part of this task.
- The Senior Analyst shall assist in briefings and production of documents as appropriate to transfer knowledge of study products to customers in the (Air Force Recruiting Service (AFRS) and Air Force at large.
MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS:
- The Senior Analyst shall possess a Ph.D. in one of the following fields - Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Statistics, or Operations Research with a minimum of three years' experience in their field of expertise.
- The Senior Analyst shall be current in Health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) training, to be able to access and process identified medical data.
- The Senior Analyst shall have a minimum of 10 years of experience with statistics in a healthcare or military environment.
- The Senior Analyst shall demonstrate advanced analytical skills in statistics and study design and execution.
- The Senior Analyst shall demonstrate expertise in descriptive statistics, as well as Statistical Analysis System/Enterprise Guide (SAS/SAS EG)
- The Senior Analyst shall have a signed NDA in place based on the potential access to confidential, proprietary, and/or sensitive information. The NDA shall be provided to the Government Program Manager by the start of performance.
DESIRED EXPERIENCE (Nice to have):
- 5+ years of experience in analysis in the medical field or the military is highly desired.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Ph.D. in one of the following fields - Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Statistics, or Operations Research
