The Opportunity
Abt seeks a qualified Senior Analyst to support Abt's Research, Monitoring, & Evaluation Capability. As a member of the Research, Monitoring, and Evaluation Capability team, you will conduct research, monitoring, and evaluation services at the highest levels of quality and rigor to generate evidence-based insights. You will join a diverse and collegial environment where we are dedicated to finding solutions to the most pressing research challenges in human services, housing and asset building, public health, health care, and environment and natural resources.
The Senior Analyst will assist in the design and execution of a broad range of quantitative, mixed-method, or qualitative research and evaluation activities to advance social scientific insights and inform national, state, and local policy and programming. Our work includes randomized controlled trial experiments, quasi-experiments, outcomes studies, monitoring and surveillance, meta-analyses, systematic evidence reviews, literature reviews, implementation and process studies, community engagement and participatory research, and other knowledge-building activities.
This position has an anticipated start date of June - August 2025. Applicants planning to graduate with their PhDs in Spring or Summer 2025 are strongly encouraged to apply. Applications received before October 11 th will be given priority.
Core Responsibilities
Contribute methodological expertise across a broad range of the quantitative or qualitative research approaches mentioned above.
Contribute subject-matter expertise in one or more of the following areas: children, youth, and families; education; workforce and disability; food and nutrition; housing and asset building; health care, public health, and criminal justice.
Execute or manage moderately to highly complex research and evaluation tasks for federal clients. Examples may include: developing research designs and analysis plans; developing data collection instruments; collecting and analyzing qualitative data; conducting and interpreting the analysis of primary or secondary data; reporting research findings and other technical writing; assisting with project management.
Collaborate with or manage project teams by communicating respectfully, meeting deadlines, and exercising initiative to resolve complex challenges. Work independently, completing complex tasks under indirect supervision where there is latitude for independent action and decision-making.
Support business development activities including proposal writing and development.
Contribute to developing and disseminating project deliverables and other products to sharing project findings through client briefings, presentations, blog posts, podcasts, videos and/or social media.
Maintain excellent business development relationships with clients and external partners.

Demonstrated technical expertise related to quantitative and/or qualitative research methods for program evaluation in the social sciences.
Experience with quantitative and/or qualitative analysis, data collection, and reporting.
Aptitude and interest in mentoring less-experienced staff and managing multidisciplinary teams.
Demonstrated commitment to principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion in research approaches and interactions with colleagues.
Demonstrated experience translating research and making it accessible to practice, policy, and/or government audiences.
A well-rounded interpersonal skill set with the capacity to build relationships with clients, funders, and workforce development leaders, and to work effectively in a team environment.

Knowledge of relevant statistical and qualitative software packages (e.g., SAS, Stata, R, NVivo, Tableau, ArcGIS)
Experience with business development and proposal or grant writing considered a plus.
Bachelor's degree + 5 years of relevant experience, Master's degree + 3 years of relevant experience, or PhD

This position offers an anticipated annual base salary range of approximately $70,000 to $110,000 and may vary by ten percent depending on candidate geographic location. Salary offers are made based on internal equity and market analysis.
