POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Application Developer is responsible for collaborating with business analysts and colleagues to produce software designs, program specifications and basic prototypes. The developer must be able to transform software designs and specifications into high functioning code in the appropriate language. The developer will be working primarily on the eClaims application. The developer will work on cross functional teams and independently to complete analysis, programming, and testing of changes to the application. The developer will be called upon to create flowcharts, diagrams, and other documentation related to the integration, use, and testing of the application and related interfaces.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Perform analysis of requirements for assigned work orders.
- Perform due diligence and produce solutions that meet the requirements of assigned work orders.
- Produce statements of work that summarize work order requirements and provide a detailed description of the proposed solution for review and approval by senior project stakeholders and management.
- Perform coding and testing of changes to the application that meet all specified requirements of assigned work orders and tasks.
- Work individually or on a team to complete all assigned tasks on time and in accordance with management and corporate direction and policies.
- Produce accurate, coherent documentation related to the integration, use and testing of the application.
- Any other duties as assigned by management.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related area preferred.
- 1+ years previous medical claim or health care system development experience.
- 5+ years of experience developing COBOL and Java Applications in a UNIX/ Linux environment.
- 3+ years of experience writing Java based APIs.
- 3+ years COBOL and Java integration experience with DB2 or SQL Server.
- 3+ years working with source code control systems such as GIT.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Ability to adapt quickly to an existing, complex environment.
- Ability to quickly learn new concepts and software as necessary.
- Must have the ability to work independently as well as with others.
- Ability to communicate in an understandable, polite, and friendly manner, both written and verbal.
- Knowledge of software implementation best practices.
- Experience working with BASH or KSH shell scripting in a UNIX/Linux environment.
- Experience writing and maintaining COBOL and Java applications in a UNIX/Linux environment.
- Experience writing Java, Spring RESTFul or SOA APIs that integrate with an RDBMS.
- Experience writing Spring MVC applications.
- Experience developing use cases, test clients, and test scenarios.
- Previous medical claim or health care system development experience
