The Role The Senior Associate of Asset Management is responsible for providing analytical, managerial, and research support to the Northeast Asset Management team. The Senior Associate's responsibilities will include:

  • Analyzing long-term asset performance and developing go-forward investment strategies via property-level business plans and hold/sell analysis;
  • Prepare detailed financial analyses of real estate assets including, but not limited to the following: discounted cash flow analysis, time-weighted returns, IRRs, equity multiples, FFO yields, and other various financial and performance measurement metrics;
  • Identifying and managing value-add opportunities to drive key performance;
  • Identifying and implementing risk mitigation strategies as needed;
  • Assessing capital expenditure needs;
  • Serving as primary asset manager on a portfolio of assets in the region;
  • Collaborating with internal AVB stakeholders such as Residential Services (property management), Capital Projects (capex project management team), Investments (transactions team), Development, etc. on material recommendations, initiatives, etc.
Qualified candidates will have at a BA/BS in Finance, Real Estate, Economics or a related field, 3-5 years of experience in Asset Management, or Acquisitions, or related field (Brokerage, Valuations, etc.). Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, attention to detail, and strong financial acumen are required. This position involves extensive interaction with internal AvalonBay stakeholders, as well as external partners.
