The Senior Associate will be responsible for overseeing tasks related to the financial reporting requirements for the Newell Brands global consolidation.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the quality and accuracy of financial reporting for divisions.
  • Analytically review results for each division and identify unexplained or unexpected variances, working with counterparts to resolve potential issues.
  • Identify data validation issues and collaborate with divisions to resolve them.
  • Facilitate the resolution of intercompany out of balances by directly working with involved divisions.
  • Manage the accounting function for select restructuring accruals, including recording journal entries, preparing reconciliations, and roll-forwards.
  • Create and maintain consolidation adjustments for business units, including reviewing foreign currency translation to ensure amounts are appropriate.
  • Support supplemental reporting that impacts the statement of cash flows, managing data flow from the main ERP system into HFM.
  • Understand the consolidation system (HFM), including requirements, reporting, and system functionality.
  • Prepare select financial statement footnotes that support SEC filings in accordance with US GAAP.
  • Assist with special projects within the team and with other corporate departments or operating units as needed.
  • Ensure adherence to financial policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Work directly with internal and external auditors on specific requests.

  • Continually update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
  • Education and Experience:

  • BA/BS in Business with an emphasis in Accounting; Accounting degree preferred, CPA preferred.
  • A minimum of 3-6 years accounting experience with familiarity in multi-national financial reporting, multi-currency consolidations, SEC reporting, and public company experience preferred.
  • Experience in consumer-packaged goods (CPG), fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), and/or consumer durables industry preferred.
  • Solid understanding of general ledger systems and foreign currency translation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Prior experience with SAP, Blackline, Hyperion Financial Management is a plus.
  • Compensation: The Connecticut base pay range for this position is from $86,130 to $105,270, based on prior experience related to the skills required for this position.
