The Senior Associate will play a key role within Gray Capital, an investment fund with interests in real estate, private equity, and venture. You will report to the Managing Partner of Gray Capital and will be an integral part to the growth of the Real Estate business with a path to growing responsibility. In this role, you will be responsible for screening, due diligence, financial modeling, deal-making, and valuation. The Senior Associate will bring an investor focused approach to the management, monitoring and reporting on a portfolio of Real Estate Transactions.
In This Position, You Will Have the Opportunity To: - Work directly with the managing partner in vetting/tracking potential real estate investments.
- Develop financial models to monitor the performance of real estate portfolio investments and provide regular updates.
- Assemble corporate real estate portfolio analysis; formulate monthly and annual reviews of area real estate portfolio.
- Perform financial analysis, valuation and financial modeling and prepare due diligence materials on prospective investments; responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assisting the managing partner with the development of financial projections and returns models;
- Conducting financial analysis to assess companies' historical financials, unit economics, customer-by-customer details, pipeline and backlog details, and other key performance indicators (KPIs);
- Analyzing market size, competitive landscape, and market segments.
- Prepare for, document, and lead diligence calls handling professionally, with courtesy and curiosity.
- Lead pitch calls with prospective investments.
- Take calls and meetings on behalf of the managing partner and professionally represent Gray Capital in these calls and meetings.
- Perform market research and develop reports on Gray Capital's targeted investment themes as well as develop market landscapes and lists of innovative companies to be contacted.
- Refine existing database to track and monitor sourcing activities; log new opportunities into CRM database.
- Develop your network of other investors, and other strategic industry connections to generate deal flow and relevant proprietary information and relationships.
- Be a visible presence for Gray Capital at local events and at conferences; participate in outreach initiatives to bolster the firm's reach and reputation.
- Leverage interpersonal skills and network to assist portfolio companies in any way; bring to bear the full weight of the firm's network on behalf of portfolio companies.
- Travel to our remote offices/projects across the country as needed.
- Take on other duties as assigned.
To Be Successful in this Position, You Will Need:- An undergraduate degree with a high GPA from a selective four-year university with a transcript offering evidence of strong performance in both quantitative and verbal areas of study. MBA preferred.
- Five to ten years of post-undergraduate work experience in real estate investment required.
- Strong skills in writing reports, proposals, and white papers demonstrated ability to write precisely, effectively, and persuasively. Ability to speak and write clearly.
- To be poised, pleasant, polished, professional, and able to comfortably interact professionally and effectively with managers, clients, and C-Suite executives.
- A can do/proactive attitude.
- Ability to travel as needed and able to work both downtown Chicago and potentially other offices/projects across the country.
- Maturity and integrity - this person will see and hear many things that are confidential. Must be mature enough to be trusted with that information.
- Strong computer skills (MS Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, CRM Software, etc.)
