We have opportunities for Mid-Senior Engineers who will work shoulder to shoulder with Tier 1 investment banks, including Morgan Stanley, UBS, Citigroup, JP Morgan and Credit Suisse to name a few. What will you do? First Derivative is seeking a highly motivated Senior AWS DataOps Engineer to join our Data team. In this role, you will help our customers deliver secure, reliable, and available data ecosystems. This position is ideal for DevOps engineers with experience in delivering robust data platforms and implementing data fabric solutions. You will be instrumental in building and optimizing data infrastructure on AWS, ensuring high performance, data integrity, and secure access across data products. Essential Requirements:
- Proven experience in DevOps methodologies and tools for CI/CD (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, AWS CodePipeline), infrastructure as code (IaC), and automation in data engineering processes.
- Expert-level knowledge of AWS data ecosystem services including Lake Formation, EMR, Glue, EC2, and CloudWatch, with the ability to configure and optimize these services.
- Strong understanding of IAM for implementing fine-grained access control, ensuring both horizontal and vertical security within data warehouses and data lakes.
- Demonstrated proficiency in cloud automation and deployment using Terraform, including creation and maintenance of IaC templates.
- Collaborate with data engineers to create efficient and scalable data pipelines.
- Experience in data governance, compliance, and security best practices in cloud environments.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have):
- Experience in the financial industry, particularly in investment banking.
- Expertise in defining high-level architectures, including network topology (VPC), compute resources (EC2 instances), storage solutions (S3, EBS), and security controls.
- Hands-on experience with data engineering concepts and data fabric technologies.
- AWS certifications such as AWS Certified DevOps Engineer or AWS Certified Data Analytics Specialist.

The salary range is $70-120 USD per hour depending on skills and experience.About the Team
