The primary function of this position is to manage biologic sequence data as well as collect, generate, and manage descriptive and analytic data related to such bioinformatics data. The Bioinformatics Scientist enables colleagues to access bioinformatics data and continuously improves the quality and accessibility of bioinformatics data.What You'll Work OnResponsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system.Designs and conducts experiments, accomplishes established milestones, organizes and summarizes data, interprets and reports results, draws conclusions. Evaluates data using analytical methodologies to achieve results. Recommends options for future analyses. Presents scientific observations to others.Expertise and Problem Solving: Leverages experience in biology, computer science, modeling, statistics, analytics and math to derive insights from large biological sequence data sets. Maintains knowledge of sequencing technologies and their applications. Identifies technical alternatives. Anticipates, recognizes and resolves technical problems.Project Planning: Participates in project planning, updates and process improvements. Implements project plans comprehending resource, budget, facility and regulatory requirements. Translates top-level goals to specific project level goals for the individual team member. Establishes and reviews complex plans for multiple projects or activities. Liaise with Global Information Technology, Asset Management, and Software Quality on behalf of project stakeholders. Plans resource allocation and distribution.Scientific Leadership: Submits ideas for inventions or publications and participates in application and report generation.Economic Profitability: Provide direction to project team to meet economic profitability (EP) profile for the project (product cost analysis).Documentation: Appropriately documents experimental procedures and results according to established guidelines.Position addresses problems of systems integration, compatibility, and multiple platforms.Translates business needs into technical systems solutions.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU'LL BRINGQualifications:Associates Degree or higher required; Bachelors Degree with strong focus on Computer Science field preferred.Minimum 4 years experience.Preferred QualificationsMasters Degree.SQL database and BASH (shell) experience preferred.Cloud computing experience preferred.Learn more about our benefits that add real value to your life to help you live fully: .
