Position Summary
As a Senior Data Insights Analyst, you will work closely with the leadership team and other stakeholders to help them understand the insights derived from data. You will use your creativity, communication skills, and analytical abilities to craft compelling narratives that turn complex data sets into actionable insights that inform and support business decisions. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to create visually appealing and easily digestible data stories that will resonate with audiences.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data analysis, statistical modeling, and data visualization, as well as be creative and have strong communication skills, with an acute understanding of how to use data to tell a compelling story.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Translate information from multiple sources (analytic results, market intelligence, cultural understanding, etc.) into impactful and actionable insights, providing easy-to-understand guidance and recommendations to drive business strategies and decision making
- Convey complex data through persuasive narratives, reports, presentations, etc. that are accessible to leadership and other stakeholders using storytelling techniques
- Leverage data visualization principles and tools to create visually impactful insights to decision makers, reducing time spent required to interpret data and providing at-a-glance understanding of issues and actions needed
- Work with the Head of Strategic Insights, data scientists, and data analysts to understand and progress predictive and prescriptive analytics
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create compelling data stories that resonate with audiences and to develop strategic recommendations based on data insights
- Design, develop, deploy, utilize and evolve various internal dashboards, reports and analyses for fee earners and functional departments within the firm to identify trends and opportunities in areas such as targeting, cross-selling, pitching, client reviews, events, practice development, planning, and strategy across our client bases, geographies, industries, and practice areas
- Create analytics-driven solutions that help solve business problems; understand the characteristics of data sets and identify patterns; train end users on completed solutions to drive adoption
- Develop and maintain dashboards and reports that monitor key business metrics
- Analyze large and complex data sets using statistical methods and data visualization tools to support storytelling
- Continuously monitor and evaluate data sources and analysis methods to ensure accuracy and reliability
- Develop and maintain a solid understanding of key clients, their businesses, and the firm's lawyer/client relationships, as well as legal industry issues and developments that impact the success of the firm and inform analytics and insights
- Conduct research using information from the firm's billing and CRM systems, as well as outside sources, as needed to support analytic efforts
- Work with users across functional departments to answer data related questions; assist with ad hoc reporting and data analysis projects
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in data science to inform storytelling strategies
- Work closely with other internal teams including innovation, knowledge management, finance, strategy, client value, marketing, alumni, HR, IT, operations, accounting, business managers, etc. to address data analytics needs
- Assist in upholding standards/guidelines/best practices for those involved in reporting, as well as influence analytics efforts across the firm
- Assist in documenting and maintaining a glossary of metric measurements used in reporting and business analytics tools
- Mentor and train junior analysts

Requirements
Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g. data science, statistics, communication, marketing) or equivalent experience
Experience:
Required:
- 5+ years of experience in data analysis, data visualization, and storytelling.
- Proven ability to explain complex concepts to non-technical audiences.
Desired:
- Experience working in consulting, legal, or other professional environments that require continuous learning and communication of challengenging and complex issues to business stakeholders
Skills:
Proficient in:
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Database querying using SQL
- Statistical analysis tools such as R or Python
- Data visualization tools (Tableau preferred)
- Data analysis tools, including Excel
Familiarity with:
- Machine learning techniques
- Statistical modeling techniques
- Data visualization best practices
- Project management tools
- Data warehouses (Snowflake preferred)
- Wireframing
- UI / UX best practices
- UAT processes

Essential Job Functions:
- Ability to sit for prolonged periods, intense eye usage, and finger, hand and wrist dexterity associated with prolonged computer use.

- Travel for meetings and trainings as required
Working Conditions: You will be required to work in the office a minimum of 2 days per week. Occasionally called upon to work hours in excess of your normal daily schedule. The details of your weekly schedule will be discussed further with your direct supervisor.
Pay Ranges: This represents the presently-anticipated low and high end of Reed Smith's pay range for this position. Actual pay may vary based on various factors, including but not limited to location and experience.

- DC, Princeton: $114,000 - $142,000
- Chicago, Philadelphia: $106,000 - $133,000
