****Main function of job:****
Negotiates and manages procurement activities for the Ashland Division.
****Duties/Responsibilities****
*Negotiates purchase of goods and services at best possible price, payment terms, and delivery consistent with overall business objectives.
* Develops new sources of supply through continual, strategic review of business needs and assessment of supplier capabilities to ensure supply chain security.
* Ensures compliance with all Porvair purchasing policies, including proper GL coding, and flow down of customer requirements to each purchase order.
* Ensures compliance with Porvair Quality Management System (QMS) requirements.
* Monitors on hand inventories and modulates incoming supply to ensure efficient use of cash.
* Drives continuous improvement of procurement activities to improve efficiency and accuracy, reduce waste, and improve service levels.
* Monitors departmental performance by gathering relevant data, producing reports, and making recommendations.
****Qualifications/Training Required****
* Four year degree in business or related course of study
* Minimum 5 years experience in purchasing or supply chain in a manufacturing environment
* Ability to work cross-functionally with other departments, vendors, and customers to meet objectives
* Strong analytical and statistical skills
* Experience working in an ISO 9001/AS 9100 registered environment
* Proficiency in the use of ERP systems (Syspro or other)
* Strong social & communication skills both verbal and written with solid computer literacy
* High level of emotional intelligence, problem-solving and decision making skills
* Occasional travel to suppliers
* Candidate should display a high level of enthusiasm, motivation, ambition and have a real passion for their work
